Jupiter "Dogface" Rhine is the main antagonist of the second case of Occult Crime Police, being Occult Crime Police: Medium at Large. He seems like an idiot at first, but that's a facade, and he's actually a highly competent psychic responsible for killing James D. Bunker.

Biography[]

Prior to Occult Crime Police[]

Jupiter Rhine was recruited by the military for their psychic project. He was trained to be able to use psychic abilities to do stuff such as predict the future or kill someone solely by staring at them. There, he met fellow psychic James D. Bunker, although the two didn't know each other that well. He only really learned more on Bunker a while later, after the project ended, and Rhine tried to use his psychic powers to make a living as a psychic. Bunker had been paid by the government to debunk the psychics so the truth isn't uncovered, and he used his own abilities to make the other psychics seem like liars. Rhine was targeted by him as another psychic, but Rhine had far more powerful abilities than Bunker. Once Bunker realized that, he panicked, and tried to use his powers to give Rhine a heart attack.

Rhine nearly dies, but is able to survive after being declared dead, and he escaped the morgue his "body" had been moved to. Unable to continue his identity as Jupiter Rhine, he started going by the alias Dogface. However, the government would be able to track his psychic abilities by the energy he emits, so he needed a person who could emit the exact opposite type of energy. He found the right person in Squart, who was so dumb that it hid Rhine's psychic powers, and Rhine acted stupid in order to befriend Squart, which worked perfectly. He joined Destination Haunted, a ghost hunting show, with Squart.

Occult Crime Police[]

Destination Haunted is now doing an episode on Base 24 and the Jager House, and for the episode, brought on Claire Voyant... and James D. Bunker. Rhine realized this was his chance for revenge. Bunker recognized him, but kept quiet out of fear. Using his psychic power, Rhine knew the situation Voyant and Bunker would end up in later, so when setting up cameras around the Jager house, he used his psychic powers again to see the water bucket on the door of the guest house, and opened it slowly, sneaking a camera in there. He proceeded to head back to the Destination Haunted van, and waited for filming to begin. Once the shoot began, he waited for Voyant to appear to frame her for Bunker's murder, and after the water bucket fell on her, he began using his powers to give Bunker a heart attack over the cameras. Bunker already had heart problems from when he tried to kill Rhine, as using psychic powers to take from another's heartbeat increases yours, so it wasn't that hard to kill him. However, Rhine's heart rate was shown increasing on the monitors, which didn't mean much to anyone at the time, but proved to be very important in the long run.

Voyant freaked out seeing Bunker collapse, and ran for it. After she ran off, "predicting" Bunker's death to Al Limony and Squart, Rhine entered her trailer and got the money she had hidden out of her safe, which he could easily crack via his psychic abilities. He proceeded to go talk to Squart, who had recorded over Limony's wedding footage, which Rhine had already recorded over himself. They made an agreement to pretend they did what the other did, Squart pretending to have placed the cameras, while Rhine pretended that he destroyed the wedding tape. Rhine pretended he was covering for Squart, when in truth, Squart was the one covering for him. However, when later recounting this story to Miranda Warren, she was able to figure out the truth of what happened to the tape, which was what Squart did, and since to avoid the water bucket trap, you'd have to be psychic, she accused Rhine of being the psychic murderer who killed Bunker. He immediately changed his demeanor in an attempt to counter her. She was able to slowly uncover all his lies, and revealing him to be Jupiter Rhine via the dog tags shown in the photo of Rhine's "corpse" covered with a sheet. Warren then proceeded to expose how he killed Bunker over the cameras, and proved it to be a fact using the heartrate monitors in the Destination Haunted footage. Rhine is defeated, and confesses to his crime, having killed Bunker for attempting to kill him and decrediting his old friends for the sake of the government. However, Ash Jager reads out Bunker's note, which includes an apology to Rhine for his terrible deeds. Rhine seems slightly remorseful, but not very. He's taken into custody, but it's implied the government will use him to teach soldiers how to use psychic abilities in exchange for giving him no sentence whatsoever. Whether he accepted said deal or not is currently unknown.
