Doji (大道寺, Daidouji) is the main antagonist of the anime and manga series Metal Fight Beyblade,and would later become the overarching antagonist of Beyblade: Shogun Steel.
He was the leader of the Dark Nebula Organization, a group that wanted to use the dark power of Beyblades to control the world, and later becomes a servant of Pluto and the Nemesis Bladers.
He was voiced by Takehito Koyasu in Japanese (who also voiced Nobuyuki Sugou in Sword Art Online, and Dio Brando in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as well as Sartorius Kumar in Yugioh GX) and both Juan Chioran and Andrew Jackson in English.
Appearance[]
With brown hair (not counting the yellow streak) and red eyes, Doji's clothing depends on the season he is in. Originally, he dresses in a professional manner, having oval glasses, a purple suit, a red tie, and black shoes. Later on, however, his design changes. His hair becomes grey while one of his eyes, now scarred, is covered with his hair. Here, Doji also wears a gold monocle over his unscarred eye, a grey coat over a black shirt and a white cravat, and Doji needing the use of a cane.
Personality[]
Doji will do whatever it takes to rule the world, even if it means doing evil acts such as helping Hades Inc.. He is very manipulative as well, shown when he convinces Bladers to join him. He also treats his minions poorly if they fail him. He is never one to give up on his goals and desires, as he uses his intellect to get ahead of his enemies. He always speaks in a polite manner, even to his enemies, but there's no mistaking the arrogance in what he says. He'll frequently access people as 'my friend' in a condescending manner. Generally, he appears to never accept people as being on his level.
As shown in Metal Fury, Doji has a habit of taunting those who oppose him. In episode 141, he even goes so far to anger Ryuga by making note of him helping Gingka, as well as degrading him to a mere pawn in Hades Inc's plan. It's a form of manipulation, as he clearly knows this will cause Ryuga to immediately stop any cooperation with the other Legendary Bladers. Doji appears to take great enjoyment of taunting Ryuga, as he laughs hysterically at the Dragon Emperor's reactions. He has even done this to Gingka back in Metal Fusion when he "awakened" Lightning L-Drago.

Power-hungry, Doji and Ryuga first head to Komma Village to claim it as their own. They are stopped by Ryo Hagane, who has a quick battle with Doji, with Doji losing and Ryuga winning for him. As they leave, Doji keeps an eye on Gingka.
Beyblade[]
After hearing that Gingka beat Kyoya Tategami, he found Kyoya to be a possible ally. He showed up at his warehouse and told his gang he can help him beat Gingka. Doji then takes the Face Hunters to an area shrouded by fog and tells them he can help Kyoya get revenge. Not trusting him, Kyoya plans to leave before being stopped and fought by Doji, in which Doji wins and Kyoya stays. Doji later meets up with Kyoya's friend Benkei Hanawa, and gives him Dark Bull, falsely saying that Kyoya is working for him and beating Ginkga is the only way to save Kyoya. Benkei, however, fails to beat Gingka, which Doji doesn't find surprising.
He is later seen observing Kyoya's progress in Beyblade battles, then sends him to Wolf Cannon to find the fangs of the heart needed to beat Ginka. He even uses his AI Merci to gather data on Gingka so he can be defeated by Ryuga, which he succeeds in gathering data for the Dark Nebula. After Kyoya's training is complete, he sends him to the city to challenge Gingka after he beat Benki and Kenta. However, this battle ends in Gingka's victory. Doji then arrives, congratulating Gingka and telling Kyoya that he didn't get much training. He then proceeds to attack Kyoya, causing Gingka to get mad. However, Doji sends a rolling bolder his way before escaping.
The next night, he looks at Gingka's data and thinks that Ryuga can beat him. He later sees Gingka, Benkei, and Kenta arrive to the fortress. He sends out helicopters with Beyblades to stop the heroes, and while they fail to fight them at first, Kyoya goes to their aid and manages to help defeat them.
Doji then sends out many traps to take out Gingka's group but they manage to get though them. Gingka then confronts Doji telling him that L-Drago must be returned. However, Doji plays a trick on Gingka and tries to get him to realize that if he joined Dark Nebula, he would get a lot more power in the end thus trying to manipulate him much like how Doji convinced Kyoya to join him. Gingka, recalling the death of his father at the hands of Ryuga and Dark Nebula, strictly refuses Doji's 'offer' and challenges him to a battle as revenge for his father. A battle sparks between the two, causing Ryuga to awaken from his coma. Doji proves to be a strong opponent even beating Starblast Attack and causes Darkness Howling Blazer to give pegasus damage. Doji loses due to Gingka's spirit rising, but this fails to faze him. Gingka and Doji run outside to encounter Ryuga's return. Gingka challenges the Re-Awakened Ryuga to a battle foolishly and Ryuga accepts. Doji then tells Kyoya Benkei, Kenta and Madoka how bey's are known to have a hidden power within them much to their shock. He oversees Ryuga and Gingka's battle, knowing that Storm Pegasus is really feeding power to L-Drago. Gingka's friends have trouble understanding what makes Ryuga's Beyblade so strong, so Doji explains that it is due to the fact that L-Drago is a left-spin blade. Gingka gets really angry and causes Ryuga's power to increase. Gingka loses, and Doji reveals that it was Gingka himself that helped L-Drago awaken, causing the boy to fall in shame. Ryuga then told Doji to get the plans ready for battle Bladers.
Doji then watches Ryuga beat a squad of Dark nebula bladers and looks pleased with his progress. He then asks Ryuga how strong he wants to be.
Later on Doji takes Ryuga to meet a strong blader named Yu Tendo telling him that Merci hacked the computers which found him and adding that Yu may be useful to the Dark Nebula. When they first saw Flame Libra T125 ES's power Doji was impressed only for Ryuga to not care that much. He watched Ryuga and Yu battle which ended up with Ryuga as the winner. After Yu's loss he hired him into the Dark Nebula and sent him off to the Survival Battle, which he wins in by beating Gingka and Kyoya. As a reward for winning the Survival Battle, the WBBA Characters]] grants whatever wish the winner chooses to grant. Yu, as instructed to do, asks for Battle Bladers to become possible. The crowds shout in approval for this wish. As Blader DJ willingly agrees to this, Doji shows up in a helicopter, revealing that not only will his organization sponsor it, but he will also become Master of Ceremonies, granting him the power to do whatever he wishes with the tournament much to the horror of Gingka's friend's. Both him and Yu agree to only allow bladers with 50000 beypoints entry into the tournament. He then explains that battle Bladers will make everyone know Ryuga as the king of all bladers once he wins the tournament. Ryuga and Gingka battle again with No outcome. After making their announcement, Doji, Yu and Ryuga take their leave, despite Gingka's great disapproval. On the helicopter ride back, Doji reveals to Yu that he didn't think Battle Bladers would have been possible without him. He didn't believe there were worthy enough bladers to be Ryuga's food. He then explains that when Ryuga wins Dark Nebula will unleash a dark power on the world controlling everything.
Doji and Yu are later seen in the Dark Nebula headquarters watching Kumasuke Kumade compete in a challenge match where the blader beats his opponents using Rock Orso D125 B. Yu wants the Tournament to happen already only for Doji to explain that in order for the tournament to run smoothly they need strong bladers that could provide power to Ryuga and L-drago. Kumasuke nearly takes the match only for a new blader named Tsubasa Otori appearing and beating Kumaskuke using his Earth Eagle 145 WD's power much to Yu and Doji's amazement. Doji orders Merci to find out all information on Tsubasa. Later that evening Merci fails to find any data on Tsubasa much to Doji's anger. However Tsubasa pays the Dark Nebula a vist much to Doji's suprise. When Tusbasa arrives he asks Doji if he can join. Doji tells Tsubasa they are not hiring at the moment and Tsubasa says he wants to look for power and is interested in Ryuga and Lightning L-Drago. This causes Doji to consider hiring him. To test out his skills he has Tsubasa battle Kumaskuke along with his brothers Kumata Kumade and Kumaji Kumade. The three brothers battle Tsubasa with all they got but end up defeated thanks to Tsubasa's strategy much to Doji's surprise. Tsubasa asks Doji if he can battle Ryuga only for Yu to challenge him to a fight. He tells Merci to record this fight to see more of Tsubasa's power. Doji gets amazed when he learns that Eagle can run on the sand that Libra created. When Yu uses Inferno Blast Doji gets concerned about the power it may cause and the battle ends in a tie. Doji lets Tsubasa know he will hire him and that he must obey every rule of the organization and due to Doji's new coat filled with water due to Tsubasa's special move, money will come out of Tsubasa's first paycheck.
The next day he calls Tsubasa into his office and asks if he likes cactuses. Doji gets back on topic and order's Tsubasa to spy on Gingka's group of friends. He explains that Gingka, Kyoya Kenta Benkei Madoka, Hyoma and Hikaru Hasama are all considered a threat to Dark Nebula. Doji orders Tsubasa to take Yu and monitor and test their progress. Tsubasa and Yu protest but Doji puts them off and reminds them it is for Ryuga's sake. Yu agress but tells Tsubasa not to get in his way. Yu and Tsubasa head to the forest state where they challenge Kenta and Hyoma to separate one on one battles. Doji watches them beat Kenta and Hyoma causing him to be impressed. That evening he congraulates the two bladers on their victory. Tsubasa warns them that it might not be so easy causing Yu to ask Tsubasa for a battle who turns him down. Doji belives everything is going as Ryuga planned.
Doji is later shown telling Yu all about his hate for cactisus which the kid could care less about and asks where Ryuga is. Doji tells him that he is training causing Yu to whine about it. Doji tells Yu to go to a challenge match and see if he can scout Bladers. Yu returns and notes how he didnt find anyone only for Doji to notice Tetsuya Watarigani right near him. The crab blader asks Doji if he can join Dark Nebula to beat Gingka. Doji allows it and uses a bey modfying device to turn his Mad Gasher CH120 SF into Dark Gasher CH120 SF. Tetsuya then vows to beat Gingka causing Doji to let him know that Gingka will be in a challenge match in Emerald city. Tetsuya vows to be a great member and leaves while Yu whishes him luck. Doji remarks that Tetsuya is strange only for Yu to remark that Doji is also strange. Tetsuya beats Benkei with his new Bey but fails to beat Gingka. Following Tetsuya's loss Doji and Yu look though Gashers data where Doji notes that the remodeling system will cause them great victory in the future. He then trys to tell his cactus story to Yu who doesn't really care.
Doji then orders Yu and Tsubasa to go to a tournament where the winner will get 10000 beypoints and try to find bladers who could be useful.
Yu remarks how the bladers will just be mere puppies. Doji then says if they are weak than tear the bladers apart using there power. As shown in a flashback Dan and Reiki were shown traning and Doji gives them a new bey, Evil Gemios DF145 FS though the bey modifier sistem, a bey which would allow them to combine both their powers in one bey. They are then sent to participate in the 10,000 bey-point tournament along with Yu and Tsubasa. Yu and Tsubasa manage to beat their opponets while Dan and Reiki lost to Kenta. Doji looks at the bladers who moved on angry with the soto twins for losing to Kenta. He then decides to turn the finals into a battle royal hoping to learn more about Gingka's power. However, in the end Yu and Tsubassa lose the battle royale alongside Gingka giving Kyoya the victory. Doji however laughs at Gingka believing that soon he will be food for Ryuga.
Later Doji learns that Gingka lost his beypoints which concerns him as Gingka may not get to be food to Ryuga. He punishes Tetsuya for stealing Gingka's points by locking him a room. During that time Tsubasa gets caught after attempting to send much needed information to Gingka and his friends. Doji and Yu orders the Dark Nebula to attack. Tsubassa defeats all of the Dark Nebula's lower class bladers such as the Kumasuke Kumade, Kumaji Kumade, Kumata Kumade, Dan, Reki Tetsuya Watarigani and the Dark Nebula Bladers. but Ryuga shows up just in time to battle him. When Doji and Yu challenge Tsubassa to battle Ryuga tells both of them to stand down. Doji believes that Ryuga will win after Earth Eagle gets it's power absorbed by L-Drago. Just when Ryuga performs him final spin move, the mysterious Phoenix saves Tsubasa and grabs both beys. When Doji demands to know who he is Phoenix says he will take over the battle and takes Tsubasa with him flying away into the night much to Ryuga's anger.
