Dolly is a major antagonist in the 2023 thriller The Royal Hotel.
He, like many men in the small town, is a sexual predator who harasses Hanna and Liv whilst they work at a bar to pay off their travelling debts.
He was portrayed by Daniel Henshall.
Personality[]
Dolly has a demanding and impatient personality. He is an alcoholic patron of The Royal Hotel, and evidently does not respect women. He is violent, intimidating and aggressive to Liv and Hanna.
Physical appearance[]
Dolly is a white man with thinning hair. He has a light beard and moustache.
Biography[]
Background[]
Dolly works as a miner in a small remote town in the Australian outback. It is assumed he has lived in the town all his life, much like the rest of the residents there.
The Royal Hotel[]
Dolly first meets Hanna and Liv, offering them a lift back to town. One night, when Liv is too tired to work the rest of her shift and Hanna agrees to work it alone as it is not that busy. Dolly arrives extremely drunk and aggressive. Hanna tells Dolly she has done her last orders, so will serve him one drink and that is all. He responds aggressively to this, and demands more drinks. He demands Hanna have a drink with him, even though she is working and growing increasingly more uncomfortable. As Dolly grows increasingly aggressive to Hanna and other patrons, Billy kicks him out.
That night, when Hanna retires to bed, where she finds a large snake in her room. Terrified, she panics. Dolly offers to retrieve the snake for her. Dolly does so, and leaves the dead snake in a jar with Hanna's name written on the side, which further disturbs Hanna. Hanna unsuccessfully tries to get Dolly banned. Hanna and Liv agree to work as much as possible to be able to leave as soon as possible.
On their final night, Hannah throws Liv a birthday party which Dolly shows up to. There, he convinces a highly intoxicated Liv to come back with him. Fearing for Hanna's safety with Dolly, she finds Liv locked in the back of his car. As Dolly starts to drive off, Hanna stands in front of his car. Dolly accelerates to intimidate her. This causes Hanna to slash Dolly's tyres with an axe.
The next morning, Matty, whom the girls trust slightly more, arrives. They discover he is with Dolly and the both are still highly intoxicated, and refuse to let them in. Agitated, Matty and Dolly break in. Matty chases Hanna upstairs whilst Dolly takes Liv to his car. After noticing Hanna's injuries sustained by Matty, Liv breaks away from Dolly. As Dolly runs after her, Teeth drives into Dolly's car, destroying it. When Teeth gets out, he begins repeatedly hitting Dolly in the face for his predatory behaviour. However, when Teeth reveals he did that to appease the girls, he is rejected and leaves angrily.
