Jail Chief, B/Gen. Dolores Espinas is an antagonist of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo Season 2. She is the corrupt, power-hungry director of the National Correctional Facility, where Tanggol and his gang are imprisoned. She also runs an underground mercenary organization where she selects ruthless prisoners as her pawns for claiming the bounty of high-profile criminals and corrupt government officials.
The late Jaclyn Jose, who portrayed Angelika Santibañez in MariMar (2015), played her.
Biography[]
At some point in time, she was appointed to be the jail chief of the correction facility. Upon being promoted to jail chief, she took advantage of all of her power and privilege in the government. She also organized a mercenary group to recruit ruthless prisoners for her underground assassination business as a side job.
She later introduces herself during Tanggol and his friends transfer to the facility, stating her rules and orders in prison. That night, she abducted Tanggol and confined him in the torture room, where she electrocuted him using car batteries to force him to testify to his crimes. Olga Montenegro requested this, and a jail guard complied by videotaping the process as she requested. Despite the severe punishment, she left Tanggol alive and injured, calling Bubbles her prison maid to nurse his wounds and transfer him back to the cell. The following day, she once again called Bubbles to formally introduce herself to Tanggol as her new trustee in the cell.
While Bong and his crew were away on a mission, she stopped the riot that Bong's cellmates incited and planned to attack Tanggol and his friends by shooting the padlock in the cell. Upon stopping the riot, she asked her men to bring Tanggol’s friends to the hospital, as they were severely wounded, and confined Tanggol and Ben in the isolation cell. The following day, Tanggol faced her, asking for an apology. Upon witnessing Tanggol’s capabilities, she then vowed to replace Bong as her new hitman.
Mr. Salazar later assigned Dolores Espiñas to complete the Red Phoenix, and she, in turn, tasked Tanggol’s group with the assignment. After succeeding them, they return to the prison along with Tanggol’s group. However, the argument started when she and Warden realized Tanggol and Bubbles had not returned. This caused Dolores to torture Tanggol’s group upon believing Tanggol and Bubbles had escaped. After Tanggol and Bubbles returned, she sent Tanggol to the isolation cell as a punishment for not returning right away.
During the prison week, Bong shot Dolores for punishing his group, and they brought her to the hospital to treat her wounds. She was able to recover, and she returned to working in the NCF. Rigor arrested Dolores after discovering that she had been assigning secret missions to the prisoners.
Personality[]
In her introduction, she is shown to be a strict, cunning, and charismatic individual wanting to maintain peace and order in the correction facility. However, her dark side shows that she is a sadistic, greedy, and tyrannical corrupt official wanting only power and privilege for herself. Despite of her authoritarian mindset, she also gives comforts and privileges to the prisoners in the facility.
