Forget about it, Nick. Don't let it bother you.
~ Dominic urging his brother Nicky to forget about his childhood friend Ace Rothstein in the midst of their friendship becoming estranged.

Dominick "Dom" Santoro is a major antagonist of the 1995 crime film Casino. He is based on real-life mobster Michael Spilotro. In the film, he is the younger brother of Las Vegas gangland boss Nicky Santoro as well as second-in-command of their gang.

He was portrayed by Philip Suriano.

Biography[]

Dominick Santoro was first introduced as the younger brother of mobster Nicky Santoro who was summoned to Las Vegas to aid the latter and their gang, including Nicky's right-hand man Frank Marino, in partaking a series of gangland activities. He also co-managed Nicky's jewelry shop and restaurant to serve as a front to their criminal empire, and at one point helped Nicky and his childhood friend Ace Rothstein deal with conman Lester Diamond for attempting to con money from Ace's wife Ginger McKenna.

It soon became clear that most of Nicky's criminal activates and Dominic's contribution to them were going against the orders of Nicky's gangland boss Remo Gaggi, who constantly ordered Frank to make sure that this doesn't continue. However, Nicky ignores them and Dominick proved to remain loyal to Nicky throughout the movie; Nicky in turn showed genuine respect towards his brother for this, which would later be signified in the film's climax when Nicky ultimately meets his downfall after having an affair with Ginger behind Ace's back and against Gaggi's code.

As Gaggi's operation collapses and the authorities commence their investigation onto their criminal activities, Dominick is arrested alongside Frank and their gang whilst Nicky flees Las Vegas to avoid getting arrested. Later on Ace survives a car bombing and it is speculated that Nicky was behind it. This prompts Gaggi to have Frank eliminate Nicky for his actions, also arranging for Dominick to be killed as well due to his blood relation with Nicky. Complying with the orders, Frank arranges for Nicky and Dominick to meet him and their crew in a cornfield by the time the authorities have stopped perusing them. When they arrive, Nicky narrates that he hopes that things will be alright for Dominick.

To their shock, however, Frank attacks Nicky with a baseball bat and Dominick is apprehended upon by their gang. Frank then forces Nicky to watch as he proceeds to beat up Dominick with a bat, eventually getting Nicky to plead for his brother's mercy. Frank nonetheless finishes off Dominick by beating him to near death with it, before proceeding to do the same to Nicky. Afterwards, Nicky and Dominick are buried alive by Frank and their gang.
