Don Juan Diego is the main antagonist of the 2020 Christmas family film Jingle Jangle.

He is a robotic toy invention who was originally built by Jeronicus Jangle until he went rogue.

He was voiced by Ricky Martin.

Biography[]

Don Juan Diego first appears when Jeronicus Jangle started building him, which made him alive. As Gustafson (Jeronicus' apprentice) then comes in, where the latter then tells his apprentice to stay with Don Juan and take care of the shop as while Gustafson feels sad that his invention, the Twirly Whirly, didn't work. Then Don Juan is distraught to learn that he will be mass-produced, thus robbing him of his uniqueness. He then manages to convince to make a deal with Gustafson to steal Jeronicus' book of inventions (while he tells him that it's stealing) in exchange to not mass-produced himself. This would cause Jeronicus to not only lose his inventions and his customers, but his wife (who died while their daughter Jessica was somewhat young).

He later appeared after Gustafson, who's invention, the Twirly Whirly, becomes broken and destroyed, after he sang his song.

During the final showdown, Jeronicus removed the life-giving component from Diego so that he can reprogram him.

During the credits Diego's doll it's shown to have been mass produced.

Trivia[]

  • Don Juan can be considered to be truly more evil than Gustafson, not only because he was the one who convinced Gustafson to steal Jeronicus’ book of inventions, but also because that one of their own motive is more sinister than the other. For Gustafson’s case, he betrayed Jeronicus just because he was impatient and low self-estimated for showing his own potential to people, including the latter. For Don Juan, on the other hand, he betrayed Jeronicus for his own selfish, self-absorbing, conceited nature. Plus, Don Juan proved to be deceiving by trying to framed Gustafson and trying to get back to Jeronicus (thought, stay uncaring for the life that his creator has been through after he and Gustafson steal his book) to be spared after Gustafson was busted for stealing Buddy, (though, he was the one who had convinced him to steal from Jeronicus again), much to Gustafson’s shock for framed him, revealing his traitorous and careless nature. And at the end, he's nothing more than both a truly manipulative and narcissistic toy who didn’t gave a care for the situation of others but himself and that he was ready to manipulate, betrayed, and destroy lives of others in order to save himself (more likely his uniqueness), not be mass-produced, and stay unique at all cost for his own conceited pleasure.
