Donny Ward is the main antagonist of the S.W.A.T. episode "Animus".
In his characterisation, he is a sexist spree shooter who targets and kills women that he learns about on the online chat forum Take The Red Pill.
He was portrayed by Sergei Dmitriev.
Biography[]
Donny Ward was a user of the antifeminist chat site Take The Red Pill, which he used to post misogynistic rants about his unnamed girlfriend. Many other users shared his sexist worldview and often posted fantasies about taking violent revenge on the women in their lives which fuelled Donny's own violent urges and hatred of women.
When Donny's girlfriend tried to leave him due to his abusive behavior, Donny killed her, afterwards bragging on Red Pill about how he had reclaimed his manhood. He then decided to go on a killing spree across Los Angeles in order to help other men do the same by removing the women they felt had wronged them. Over the next two days, Donny made a list of eight women he would kill based on the violent fantasies of other Red Pill users.
To start his spree Donny went to a law firm owned by Maria Goodwin, who had won a custody case against Red Pill user Chad Weatherly, and killed her and two female employees. He then attacked a sorority house and shot two of the girls living there, one of whom was the stalking victim of another Red Pill user. Donny left after shooting his target, and both of the girls he shot survived thanks to the timely arrival of the LAPD.
Donny's third target was a feminist political activist named Mallory Raine. He disguised himself as a waiter to sneak into an awards ceremony where she would be speaking, but couldn't find Mallory as she had gone outside for some air. When LAPD SWAT arrived to stop him, Donny fled through the kitchen, where he shot a security guard who tried to stop him in the leg. He left the building and spotted Mallory on a high walkway outside. As he prepared to shoot her, SWAT caught up with him and he turned his gun on them. Female SWAT officer Chris Alonso shot Donny in the chest and he fell off the walkway to his death.
Despite his plans being thwarted, Donny's actions inspired other misogynists to follow his example, leading to more mass shootings.
