Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
The whole of Haven used to pray to God on this spot. You know how He answered their prayers? With floods and devastation. He abandoned them, so they abandoned God. My family introduced them to the true Lord. A powerful Lord, who hears his people's prayers. You were ordained and you turned your back on God just like we did. That's why we chose you. Only a servant of God can kill his angel. You remember what your God did to you in the Sudan? What about your daughter, huh? Now that...that is your God. Katherine...

Biography[]
Doug is first seen attending one of professor Katherine Winter's seminars, with her disproving religious occurrences with scientific explanations. After the seminar, he goes to Katherine specifically, asking for her help as his town of Haven is being inflicted with biblical plagues which Doug believes are being caused by a mysterious little girl named Loren McConnell. Doug warning Katherine not to call TV stations or round up scientists for the town of Haven. Doug asks Katherine not to alert the news station because their town's the best kept secret in the bible and not wanting it turned into a punchline. Doug also tells Katherine that when some men went fishing, the river turned red, dark red, like blood. The same day that Loren killed her brother. And she is only 12.
Intrigued, Katherine and her colleague Ben go to the town of Haven where they are welcomed by Doug and the many townsfolk. Most of which have children and/or are expecting another child on the way. Doug is in charge of finding out what's causing the biblical plagues. Doug fears that many more plagues are to come as he has heard a lot of talk of Exodus the last couple of days. At the church of Haven, Doug introduces Katherine and Ben to Mayor Brooks and says he is hoping Katherine will help them with their problem. Doug takes them down to the bloody river where Katherine and Ben take samples for the lab and they encounter Loren McConnell as well as some dead frog that rain down from the skies into the bloody waters. Doug explains to Katherine why the McConnell family live in the woods away from town, due to the mother letting her two children run wild. Their father was a priest who committed suicide. Doug shows Katherine around some old ruins that used to be the town of Haven a hundred years ago until three hurricanes in three years wiped it off the map and that they buried all their deceased in an old mausoleum. Then the townspeople started on higher ground. Doug then offers Katherine and Ben to stay over at his place in the two extra rooms which thy agree to. That night, Doug cooks Katherine and Ben dinner but when he turns his back for a minute, the dinner is instantly rotten and infested with bugs and flies and maggots. Next, they get a phone call and go to a neighbor's farm where they are attacked by a raging bull and they see cattle dropping dead one by one. Later, Doug gives Katherine a beer and they talk about losing their loved ones. Doug in mourning of his late wife Sam and Katherine in mourning of her husband and child. Katherine then calls it a night and goes to bed, during which she has an erotic dream of her and Doug together as well as many nightmares about Loren and the Sudan.
The following day, the town becomes infested with lice and parents have to shave their children's heads and become desperate for answers. Doug and Ben look over the dead body of Brody McConnell which decayed rapidly despite only being dead three days. As Doug gathers Ben and some of the townspeople to try and stop Loren McConnell once and for all. They believe she is a child reborn of Satan. It is believed there is a satanic cult hidden somewhere in Haven who spare their firstborn, brand them and leave them unharmed to carry on the genetic line but the second-born are sacrificed to please Satan once they've reached puberty. Doug, Ben, the townspeople and now Katherine fear that Loren is the perfect child reborn with the power of Satan from the satanic cult.
As everyone arrives outside the McConnell house, the girl Loren sends her plagues of locusts upon them, rendering most of the townspeople dead and Doug having to dive into the bloody river to rid himself of the bugs and Ben to hide inside the old mausoleum and Katherine to hide inside Loren's bedroom until the coast is clear.
Soon after, Ben dies and Doug hands a devastated Katherine a dagger, begging her to finish off Loren and save everyone. Katherine takes the knife and is about to kill Loren when Loren touches her and she experiences visions that show what really happened: Loren was almost killed in a sacrificial ritual by a satanic cult when she escaped. Her brother Brody stabbed her but her wound miraculously healed and Brody decays rapidly and dies. Then the river turned red. It's revealed through this that Loren is actually an angel sent by God to destroy evil and the satanic cult is actually the entire town of Haven.
After this revelation, Katherine staggers back confused by what she saw and Doug reappears, showing his true colors. Trying to change Katherine's mind. Trying once again to manipulate Katherine into killing an innocent child. Begging Katherine to kill her before the next biblical plagues come. Once again reminding her that he is a first-born. Katherine refuses to kill Loren and throws the knife to the ground, telling Doug to do it. As Doug picks up the knife, the skies roar in thunder. Katherine calls out Doug on deceiving her so that she could murder her, which Doug denies. It is also revealed that Doug killed Ben to try to keep him quiet about the satanic rituals and the dead children's bodies inside the mausoleum and so that he could blame Loren for Ben's death and try to trick Katherine into murdering Loren. Doug refuses to believe Loren is an innocent child and still attempts to have her killed. As Katherine and Loren try to escape, all the townspeople of Haven show up, revealing themselves to be a satanic cult. Doug then rants to Katherine that he and his town used to pray to God on the very old ruins of Haven but claims that God turned His back on them so they lost their faith and turned their backs on God and Doug's family introduced the townspeople to "the true lord" Satan. Doug then reminds Katherine that she was ordained and that she too turned her back on God just like Doug and the townspeople of Haven did and offers her to join them in their satanic cult. He also reminds Katherine of losing her husband and child back in Sudan during one of her religious trips and blames God for those deaths. Doug then offers Katherine the knife once more, believing that he has finally gotten through to her but Katherine still shuts him down and refuses his offer to join his satanic cult and kill Loren. Soon the last of the plagues -- the death of the first-borns -- happens and Doug and all the townspeople of Haven just happen to be all first-born. Everyone panics as they're killed off by God with giant fireballs from the sky one by one. Doug finally loses his temper, screams and tries to kill Katherine and Loren himself. As Doug threatens Katherine first by holding her at knifepoint, they're both lifted into the air by God and Doug dies a horrific death due to his evil ways. His eyes turning red and his flesh rapidly decaying and burning off until he is reduced to a screaming skeleton. Doug dies and the entire town of Haven, a satanic cult, are killed off by God with a giant fireball that destroys the entire town but saves Katherine and Loren who escape.
Though Doug was killed, he did accomplish one thing. As the film ends, flashbacks reveal that Katherine's erotic dream was, in reality, Doug raping a drugged and unconscious Katherine, in his attempt to conceive "a perfect child with the eyes of Satan". Doug had put something in that beer he gave to Katherine to drink so that he could take advantage of her. And since this was Katherine's second pregnancy, she was therefore doomed to be pregnant with the Antichrist.
