Doug Houser's Mother is one of two overarching antagonists (alongside Victor) of Dark Deception, being the one who wrote the secret notes in "Bearly Buried" about Doug's childhood.
Personality[]
In her birthday note to Doug, where she gifted him a teddy bear, she initially appeared to be a wholesome, loving mother. However, this is later revealed to be false, as in later notes it is revealed she hated Doug with a passion. She despised Doug precisely because he reminded him of her husband, who had cheated on her and mistreated her, and because of that, she gained sadistic pleasure in Doug's suffering.
Biography[]
She was living near a large horse farm in central Pennsylvania, and before or after Doug's mother gave birth to Doug, her husband left them and ran off with another woman, it's also implied that he abused her in some way. She tried to take care of her son alone, but she felt tired day by day. She began to see her son as his father's brat, as he began to resemble his father more as he grew older. She soon grew to hate him because of this, but she couldn't leave him because it was against the law. She had begun to mistreat Doug; kept him in the dark for hours, saying she enjoying hearing his begging, heavy implying she gets some sort of sadistic gratification.
Doug later married a woman named Elise, though he never introduced her to his mother, something Elise found odd. She even mentions that Doug refused to talk to her about his mother, implying he either hated or feared her.

- Mama Bear is heavily implied to be the representation of her.
- Considering the fact that Mama Bear is revealed to be a demonic amalgamation of the souls of abusive mothers who destroyed and sabotaged the lives of their own children with their twisted idea of love, it's quite possible that Doug's mother may have become one of the trapped souls that comprise Mama Bear.
