Douglas Rogers is the main antagonist of the Chick Tract "Busted".
Biography[]
At the beginning of the tract, a man named Tony is arrested for an unspecified crime, and told by his lawyer that they're up against prosecutor Douglas Rogers, the best lawyer in the business. Meanwhile, Douglas is in his office, bragging to his aide Charlie about how he'll use the law to bury Tony, and will soon be elected governor. When Charlie asks what will happen if he's innocent, Douglas replies that he doesn't care, as he'll win the case regardless and "love[s] watching the accused squirm", to which Charlie replies that the evidence is mounting up against him too. When Douglas replies that he's not on trial, Charlie tells him that he will be because he defied God.
Douglas protests, saying that God loves him, but Charlie says that God hates his sinful lifestyle, and will soon make him answer for his crimes. He then asks him if he would lie, cheat and steal to become governor, to which Douglas says yes, only for Charlie to reply that this means he has broken the 10 Commandments, not helped by Douglas's lifestyle of parties, drugs and hookers. Douglas will ultimately go to Hell when he dies.
Douglas continues to object, saying that if he's guilty, then the whole world is. Charlies tells him that this is true, but that God gave them Jesus Christ to believe in so that people could go to Heaven, which absolves him and many others. However, Douglas still refuses to accept this, saying that if he converted, he would look like a "Bible nut", hurting his political career, and that he likes sinning and won't give up even to save himself. In order to placate Charlie, he agrees to become a Christian when he's governor. He then leaves in order to get to court, and is immediately accosted by an armed robber, who demands his car keys. Douglas refuses, and is shot dead and taken to Hell by the Grim Reaper.
