Dr. Berg is the major antagonist of the manga New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Dual Story: G-Unit. Originally a scientist hired to work on asteroid base MO-V, he is the developer of countless Mobile Suits armed with PX System, and is completely obsessed with developing the most powerful Mobile Suit. Having little regard to human lives, he ultimately plans to take over the Earthsphere through any means necessary.
Personality[]
A textbook example of a mad scientist, Dr. Berg has no moral standards ,and is willing to kill people just for opposing his plans. Completely obsessed with the idea of creating the ultimate Gundam, Berg has no real loyalty to anyone, selling MO-V out to OZ Prize by leaking information about the G-Units when supposedly working for OZ Prize, letting the captured Odin Bernett go just because he wanted to see him fight the Armonia Sisters to prove the superiority of his Gundam, and using other people (such as Kratz Silvy) as lab rats. At the same time, Berg is also a megalomaniac, as he desired to rule the entire Earthsphere. Being a sore loser and a psychopath, he added a code to the ship Grand Chario right before his deat,h so that should he die, the ship will crash into the Earth and cause a nuclear engine explosion.
Biography[]
Dr. Berg was originally a scientist, wanting to use the Resources Colony MO-V for his own plans, probably in creating the ultimate Mobile Suit. He was opposed by the spacecraft engine engineer Mark Bernett, and as a result, Berg killed Mark and his wife with a planned spacecraft accident, turning Odin Bernett and Odel Bernett into orphans.
With Mark dead, Dr. Berg was hired by the representative of MO-V to become in charge of MO-V's development office. He would use the resources to construct the OZX-GU01A Gundam Geminass 01 and OZX-GU01A Gundam Geminass 02, also known as G-Units, with the Bernett siblings become their pilots.
Eventually, MO-V joined Organization of the Zodiac after hearing propaganda from Lady Une. However, they kept the development of G-Units as a secret. Unfortunately, wanting to put his creation into a real test, Berg has other idea and leaked the information to OZ Prize, an independent OZ squad that works for Romefeller Foundation. Thus, OZ Prize, lead by Roche Nattono, attacked MO-V.
At some point, Odel is seemingly killed in a battle when he and his Geminass is thrown into a space mine, although Berg saved him and told him to infiltrate OZ Prize under the identity of Silver Crown. With that done, he gave OZ Prize the data of Geminass 02, leading to them building the Gundam Aesculapius. Wanting to push Odin and Geminass 01 to their limit, he told Lucille Aisley to train Odin harder with the PX-System before sending a signal to OZ Prize to ask them to pick him up. When Odin is fighting Roche and the Gundam Aesculapius, Kratz Silvy and Broom Brooks came to aid them. Right before that, Berg was caught by Lucille as he is wearing a spacesuit, causing Leo-N to smash the window into pieces as he picked Berg up, nearing sucking Lucille into space in the process. With that, the OZ Prize trio retreated.
Back on OZ Prize's ship, Grand Chario, Berg introduced Silver Crown to Roche and gave the Gundam Aesculapius to Silver Crown. Meanwhile, at MO-V, it was found out that while he betrayed them, Berg left some information about G-Units' part to them, which MO-V used to further develop the Gundam. Berg then sent Silver Crown to fight Odin, but before the fight could end, Roche showed up in the Leo-S since he wanted to be the one to defeat Odin, calling off the duel.
In Grand Chario, the Stardust Knights find out that they can no longer communicate with Romfeller Foundation, as Berg secretly sabotaged their communication system and invited Valder Farkill to join him.
At this point, the population of MO-V started to panic due to OZ Prize's blockade as MO-V started to evacuate them with space shuttles. Despite Roche's promise that he would aid in their escape, Kratz and Valder would foil these plans. After destroying the escape shuttles, Valder announced that he is now the leader of OZ Prize before killing an objecting Broom. Meanwhile, Kratz betrayed Roche and destroyed the Leo-S, but Odin saved Roche and retreated back to MO-V.
In Grand Chario, Sliver Crown secretly transported the newly constructed OZ-19MASX Gundam Griepe to MO-V under the disguise of ramming an asteroid into MO-V. As Berg inspects the Gundam, he find out that it's engine is the one designed by Mark, as he uttered that while the Bernett Family tried to stop him, he will prove that his Gundam is superior.
A Odin chased down the spy Luna Armonia, he was captured by both them her elder sister, Soris Armonia. Later, the Armonia Sisters would fight Roche while he was inside the Gundam L.O. Booster, swiftly cutting Kratz and his Leo-R down (while sparing him) to rescue Odin. Roche them combatted the Armonia Sisters as they pilot the Vayeate Suivant and Mercurius Suivant. Berg, once again wanting to see Gundam Griepe in action, let Odin go from the prison to help Roche in fighting the sisters, only for the fight to be interrupted by Valder.
While both MO-V and OZ Prize prepared for their final battle in Grand Chario, Berg announced to the soldiers of his plan on defeating White Fang and World Nation after taking MO-V over. When Valder asked him if Berg now wanted to take over the world, the mad scientist said that he won't mind if he did it and developed the ultimate Mobile Suit in the same time.
Before the fight began, Grand Chario was attacked by White Fang, only for Berg to swiftly take over their Mobile Dolls. Berg then gave Kratz the newly developed Gundam Burnlapius, with the limiter on the PX-System removed. When Kratz confronted Roche, he ended up overloading the PX-System, frying his mind right before dying in its destruction.
After Kratz's death, Berg planned to have Grand Chario to destroy MO-V, only for Odel to show up and stop him. Berg sent several Mobile Dolls programmed with Odel's movements to stop him. After Odel denied Berg's offer of an alliance, Berg revealed that he was behind his parents' murder. This greatly angered Odel, causing him to turn on PX-System Overdrive to knock the Mobile Dolls away before destroying the bridge of the Grand Chario, finally killing Dr. Berg. Before dying, Berg manically claimed that his Mobile Suit is the ultimate Mobile Suit.
Despite his death, his programming caused the Grand Chario to begin its self-destruct sequence, sending in towards Earth and nearby colonies in an attempt to kill millions. Odin quickly finished Valder and the Hydra Gundam off, and with the combined parts from Odel and Roche's G-Units, Odin destroyed the Grand Chario, foiling Berg's plans once and for all.
