Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
Dr. Calico's Soldiers, or simply Calico's Henchmen, are minor antagonists of the in-universe TV show Bolt in Disney's full length animated feature film of the same name, as well as being minor antagonists in the video game tie-in and the Super Rhino short. They serve as the military forces of Dr. Calico's Syndicate. Although not villains in real life, Bolt, believes that they are real villains who have taken Penny captive.
Calico's soldiers serve as the primary military of Dr. Calico's unnamed crime syndicate in the TV show. No backstory is given for these characters, but all of them feature a slender build in yellow accented black bodysuits with a yellow "cat's eye" insignia on the chest area, shoulder pads, platform boots, and motorcycle helmets with brown "cat's eye" visors. They are armed with laser guns and electric gloves. Some of these henchmen also are associates of the doctor, and wear their biker garb everywhere.
They seemingly have a vast power of vehicles that consist of motorcycles with missiles that are deployed from attack helicopters, trucks armed with missiles, and a selection of other vehicles. These henchmen are mostly stationed at various lairs that the evil doctor have set up around the world to help him in his world domination.
At some point, they captured Penny's father, hoping to get information from him. They also tried to infiltrate the Olympics, which was foiled by Bolt.
Bolt: The Video Game[]
Calico's soldiers mostly serve as enemies Bolt or Penny have to defeat throughout the levels of the game. They consist of different henchmen; Gloveys are the primary standard henchmen who are armed with gloves that generate electricity, making them easy to defeat. Starry's are similar to Glovey's, but are armed with huge throwing stars instead of gloves. Proddy's are the only female soldiers who are similar to the previous two, but have batons with fire and prefer to attack far away. Diskys are far superior than Gloveys and Starry's, albeit that they throw discs that can explode in a few seconds from hand. Whippy's have very long whips that attack far away, but can do a basic swinging attack with a whip when Bolt is close to them. Stompys are Calico's fattest and strongest henchmen. They aren't even muscular, and they have very deep voices. It takes a very long time to defeat these guys. Luckily, Penny doesn't have to encounter the Stompys, Diskys, or Whippys, except in the Nintendo DS game. They can roll on the ground because of their round shape and when they stomp, they send out a sonic blast similar to Bolt's superbark.
Bolt[]
These soldiers are shown in the beginning of the film, where they are deployed to stop Penny and Bolt at all costs after finding out from one of his associates that Calico is in Bolivia, leading it to a chase throughout the city. Their helicopters deploy motorcycles to chase down Bolt and Penny, but they are able to evade them with ease. Two other soldiers also give chase at the freeway, while the camera zooms into one of the soldiers' hands, revealing a timed disc bomb in one of his hands, which he throws at an oil truck that Bolt easily receives. The two try to catch Penny but one of the henchmen accidentally touches his partner which results him being thrown off the bridge. Another soldier in a helicopter gave chase to Bolt but is able to use his laser vision to destroy it before another helicopter deploys a motorcycle. The motorcycle henchmen proceeded to fire a missile at Bolt, who is able to lure it into another helicopter, destroying it. A motorcycle henchman attempted to kill Penny, but Bolt was able to put the disc bomb on him, which the henchman accidentally threw at one of the helicopters, after which he used his electric claws to electrocute himself. As Bolt and Penny approach the airport, a convoy of Calico's soldiers appear to surround them, but Bolt is able to use his super bark to finish them off. One of Dr. Calico's soldiers found himself having to dodge his colleagues' vehicles, only to eventually be "crushed" by one. It would turn out to be part of a filming of an episode as the actors who portrayed the henchmen get back up on their feet and review the latest take on the episode, where the Director found out that a boom mic was on set. In this scene, we see one of Calico's soldiers unmasked.
During the filming of a cliff hanger episode, the soldiers are shown guarding Calico's base in Bolivia. One of the guards portrayed by the actors has his visor wiped by one of the filming crew. Penny proceeded to roll a coin at one of the henchmen as a distraction as Bolt defeats two of them with ease with the other revealed to land on a cushion on set. The other soldier prepared to "kill" Bolt but the filming crew has the soldiers' gun “break” (basically showing how Bolt’s laser vision is all staged and not real) before Bolt knocks him with ease. Another soldier is also monitoring Calico's computer before being "knocked out" by Bolt as they tried to find her father only for it to be a trap by Calico himself. However, when the episode is done filming, the guard actors, who are working with the Director, try to hold off Penny with ease as he finds out that she is trying to convince Bolt that she is fine.
They aren't shown in the end of the movie, when Bolt, Rhino, and Mittens arrive at the studio, they see one of the actors dressed as Calico's henchman holding a cup of coffee. Rhino then proceeded to "attack" the soldier but all the soldier hears from is whining from the Hamster. Nevertheless, the actor begins to adore Rhino, having recalled from childhood that he used to have a hamster just like him named Mr. Sparkles. During filming of the latest episode, they are shown to escort Calico when he reveals a captive Penny to her father. He then proceeded to order his henchmen to attack Bolt (who is basically portrayed by a replacement dog to fill in for the real one) only for the dog to step away and cause a huge fire, forcing the TV crew to leave. As the actor continued to adore Rhino, it was interrupted when he had to rush in to the stage.
Following Penny and Bolt’s rescue by the firefighters, it turns out that some of the actors who portrayed Calico’s henchmen have survived and escaped the fire. They are presumed to continue working for the show with the new actress.
The actors behind the villains[]
While the actors of the henchmen's names are revealed, it is known that they started portraying Calico's henchmen prior to the movie's events. Over the course of the film, they are somewhat well trained in acting, as one of the actors portraying the soldiers gives a thanks to one of the filming crew for having his visor wiped so he can focus. While not filming, they mostly talk and converse between breaks and hang out around set, ans they seemingly act as guards, as shown when the Director orders them to hold off Penny, when she tries to let Bolt know she is fine. They block Penny, so the Agent can convince Penny to let Bolt stay angry and alone, to motivate Bolt to "rescue" her for the show.
It is known that one of the actors once had a hamster similar to Rhino during his childhood, named Mr. Sparkles before he started to play Calico's henchmen, as shown when Rhino pretends to attack him. This is one of the only actors to have a past background.
