That's right, Sonic. The great Dr. Robotnik has reformed! (laughs maniacally)
~ Dr. Eggman to Sonic.

Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is a supporting character in the 2008 video game Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Like the main series Dr. Eggman, he is an evil genius who seeks to take over the world. His latest defeat led to his lengthy absence, and after resurfacing, he was forced to join efforts with his arch-nemesis Sonic to combat the threat of the Nocturnus Clan.

Biography[]

Past[]

Dr. Eggman's past was mostly the same as his mainstream counterpart's, although certain Codex entries imply that there are some differences in their biographies. His first scheme involved turning animals into Badniks, but Sonic would foil it. Since then, Eggman had moved on to more deadly schemes. His latest attempt to conquer the world was foiled when Sonic and his friends sent his Egg Carrier crashing down onto Metropolis, with the evil doctor presumed dead. In truth, however, he was healed by a medical droid, and lay low ever since.

The Dark Brotherhood[]

During the Nocturnus Clan's invasion, they took control of Eggman's robots. While fighting them, Sonic and his friends eventually discovered Eggman's hideout in Green Hill Zone. Robotnik claimed to have reformed, and offered his assistance to the heroes. He helped them reach Metropolis, and bonded with Tails during their journey. Eventually, he and Tails reconstructed one of Eggman's old fighters into the Cyclone spaceship, and created a portal leading to the Twilight Cage. When the heroes entered it, Eggman was left behind to guard it and act as backup in case Nocturnus would return.

Due to the dilation of the time flow between the Twilight Cage and Sonic's universe, what was seemingly years for Eggman was a much shorter time for the heroes, allowing the doctor to betray their trust and conquer the world unopposed in their absence. When they returned to their universe and witnessed the rebuilt Eggman Empire, Robotnik told them that it would be better if they never came back, but he hoped they would, before shooting the Cyclone out of the sky, ending the game on a rather unintentional cliffhanger.

Quotes[]

The dimensional Buffer is a fine invention. Pity I never got a chance to test it. At least not since that last time. I never did see those pants again.
~ Dr. Eggman talking about the Dimensional Buffer
There is the small issue that a giant floating island crashed into my city knocking out my power grid. My beautiful power grid.
~ Dr. Eggman mentioning that Angel Island crashed into Metropolis taking out the power

Trivia[]

  • Given that Sonic Chronicles is considered non-canon by Kevin Eva, its version of Eggman technically remains successful in conquering the world and remaining in power, something only a few incarnations of the character can boast.
