Doctor Emerie Karr is a major character in the 2021 Disney+ animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
One of the leading Imperial scientists at Tantiss, she works for Doctor Royce Hemlock in his twisted blacksite experiments, specifically his research and experiments on the clones, of which it is eventually revealed she is one of. Despite the vile nature of her work and the situation she's in, Emerie is affable but tries to keep a calm and stoic composure. Her allegiance to the Empire ultimately starts causing conflict within her, and while she wishes circumstances could be different, she nonetheless follows her orders without question.
She is voiced by Keisha Castle-Hughes.
Background[]
Emerie Karr is a clone of Jango Fett, albeit a female one. At some point after the formation of the Galactic Empire, Dr. Royce Hemlock started employing Dr. Karr as a scientist at the secret Imperial scientific base called Mount Tantiss. She supervised experiments on Crosshair and later she was tasked with keeping an eye on Omega.
Personality[]
Emerie is softspoken and courteous, and despite her moral compass trying to guide her onto a better path, she lacks the willpower to follow it, and as such can come off as rather robotic in her by the book demeanor. Despite being a clone herself, she pays no mind to the brutal treatment her fellow clones are subjugated to, having no real sense of attachment or loyalty to any of them. Despite this, she does have a soft spot for Omega, as they are only two female clones of Jango Fett in existence. Even though Tantiss is a clandestine operation who's operations are too cruel and atrocious to be made known, Emerie herself was somewhat in the dark of just how despicable they truly are. This lead to her loyalty to the Empire start showing signs of cracking when she beheld The Vault was not a top secret research facility as she may have thought, but a prison for young Force-sensitive children. Despite being explicitly ordered to not form any kind of attachment to them and to treat them like any other test subjects, Emerie still went out of her way to try and be more comforting towards the children.
