~ Harting after Garrison blows up his skyscraper.

Dr. Emil Harting is the main antagonist of the 2020 superhero film Bloodshot based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name.

He was the CEO of a research facility called the Rising Spirit Tech, where he specialized in giving cybernetic enhancements to disabled US military personnel.

He was portrayed by Guy Pearce, who also played Leonard Shelby in Memento, Fernand Mondego in The Count of Monte Cristo, Kendall Duncan in Bedtime Stories, Peter Weyland in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, Charlie Rakes in Lawless, Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3The Reverend in Brimstone, Ebenezer Scrooge in the 2019 A Christmas Carol miniseries and Thomas Clay in Tom Clancy's Without Remorse.

Biography[]

He is first introduced when he "revives" slain US Marine Ray Garrison by implementing him with nanobot technology that allowed him to regenerate any part of his body. When Garrison began to regain his memories, he hunts for Martin Axe under the belief that he was his wife Gina's murderer. After killing him and his bodyguards, Garrison is recaptured and is removed of his memories. He is then appointed with killing another man named Nick Barris.

While he is murdered at Garrison's hands, a computer programmer named Wilfred Wigans revises him after an EMP bomb is set off. Upon awakening, Garrison learns that Harting was inserting fabricated memories into him to use him to eliminate his rivals.

Figuring that Garrison had become compromised, Harting decides to send Dalton and Tibbs to kill him. When KT tries to rebel, Harting remorselessly activates her breathing valve and seals it intent on leaving her to suffocate to death. Dalton and Tibbs both end up killed in their attempts at disposing of Garrison thus leaving Harting to do the task himself. At this point, Garrison was in danger of dying due to overheating his nanobots. Harting launches a grenade at him only for it to be deflected towards him. Garrison then grabs Harting and they are both killed in the explosion. Following his death, Garrison was officially being rebuilt.
