Dr. Facilier, a.k.a. The Shadow Man, is the main antagonist in the 2009 Disney film The Princess and the Frog. He is voiced by Keith David.
Facilier is a voodoo witch doctor responsible for transforming Prince Naveen into a frog, and he gives Naveen's aide Lawrence a voodoo charm filled with Naveen's blood that gives him the appearance of the prince. Facilier's plan is to have Lawrence marry Charlotte LaBouff, after which he would then kill her father and claim his fortune. After Naveen escapes, Facilier makes a deal with the spirits in which he would give them the souls of the people of New Orleans in exchange for tracking down Naveen.
Facilier is eventually defeated when Tiana shatters his voodoo talisman, the essence of his deal and thus causing the voodoo spirits to turn on him. Despite Facilier's desperate pleas, he is dragged into the spirit realm where his soul goes straight to Hell.
First Appearance
When Dr. Facilier first appears in the movie he is on the street performing the classic form of trickery that does not seem at all special to trick a man out of his money. When the camera comes back to him after he has seen Prince Naveen he grows frustrated and desires the prince's money.
Charisma
Dr. Facilier although he lives on the street is very charismatic. He uses his black magic to find people greatest desires and talks with great fluency and confidence. Those qualities made it easy for him to trick Prince Naveen into coming into his lair and turn him into a frog. Dr. Facilier, also being a knowledgeable man, easily convinced Lawrence to agree to help Facilier in his plan to take over New Orleans.
Voodoo
Dr. Facilier sang "Friends on the Other Side"
Dr. Facilier after talking to his "friends on the other side" obtains a necklace that if given the blood of one person gives the wearer the appearance of that person until the blood runs out. Facilier uses this object and steals the blood of the prince and puts it in this necklace and with that gives the overworked slave, Lawrence, the appearance of the prince.
