Dr. Faker is the primary antagonist of the first three arcs of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. He is the father of Kite Tenjo and Hart Tenjo and the founder of Heartland City itself. Although it was believed Faker wanted to conquer Earth by instructing Kite Tenjo to collect numbers in exchange for Hart being cured, his true ambition was to destroy the Astral World to fullfill his deal with Vector in order for Hart to be cured.

Biography[]

History[]

Dr. Faker was the original creator and founder of Heartland City. He founded it with the intention to help poor children, but also wanted it to be a place for everyone to have fun.

Hart Tenjo, his youngest son, was born with a frail condition. Aware that Hart wouldn't survive, Faker became obsessed with trying to find other dimensions so he could use its powers to keep his son's life. He worked with Byron Arclight and his eldest son, Chris. They also suggested to gain help from Kazuma Tsukumo, the father of Yuma Tsukumo and an adventurer who was also looking for the same door. Kazuma agreed to help them. He then stated that there were twenty three passage points that he previously encountered while adventuring despite the data assuming it to be either correct or incorrect. With that new data, they determined where to go.

Byron, Faker, and Kazuma began to travel to that destination while leaving Chris behind. At one point, Kazuma saved Byron from a boulder trap whilst inside the ruins. When they reached a dead end, Faker read a hieroglyph that read that the door will open if two souls are offered. After Kazuma and Byron were sacrificed, Faker revealed that he intended to find the door even if it meant sacrificing his own partners to do so. Kazuma then told Faker if Byron was his true friend, to the point that he responded that he is even though he had to be sacrificed at all costs. Both fell into a portal with Byron swearing revenge.

Faker then entered the Barian World where he met Vector, leader of the Seven Barian Emperors. Vector agreed to heal Hart in exchange for Dr. Faker destroying Astral World. If the plan failed, then Vector would take Hart himself and use all of his powers to destroy Astral World.

Although Faker believed Byron to be dead, he was transported to Barian World, given powers from them, and was reborn and mutated as a child by the name of Vetrix. Kazuma, however, was trapped in Astral World.

Faker then begun work on the sphere field cannon while Vector sustained Hart's life force. To that end, he recruited Kite Tenjo to be a number hunter assigned to save Hart, though unaware of the true ambition of his own father.

Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL[]

Pre-WDC[]

Five years later, the numbers began to appear and Kite was instructed to hunt them. At one point, Faker told Heart about how Kite was collecting the numbers. He then ordered Heartland to place trash in Heartland tower so that Hart Tenjo can use them to send rubbish as makeshift bombs to attack the Astral World. He then revealed how he gave up humanity to protect the world as well as his own two sons, comparing it to how Kite gave up humanity to protect his own brother. Faker then awaited the inevitable arrival of the emissary from Astral World, anticipating that his visit will be short and will be a beaten broken bow once the numbers are collected. He also explained to Mr. Heartland about the World Duel Carnival, a dueling competition which is in fact, a ploy to gather numbers so Kite can hunt them efficiently. Heartland told Faker that Kite will not lose. Dr. Faker then oversaw the Sphere Field's experiment as Hart Tenjo continued to dump more bombardment on the Astral World, urging him to make them pay with his power.

World Duel Carnival[]

At some point before the tournament, Faker revealed to Mr. Heartland that the reason for time stopping in Heartland was because waves from Astral World and another world were passing through Earth and believed Astral would attack him if he recovered his memories and collected all numbers.

Dr. Faker later became furious when Vetrix (unknown to him that he is actually Byron Arclight) began kidnapping Hart and stole his powers as well as injuring him. Mr. Heartland informed him that even the group of people that orchestrated Hart's kidnapping had strange markings on them. Faker ordered Heartland to make them pay for their actions once they reach the finals.

World Duel Carnival Finals[]

During the finals party, Faker contemplated on Heartland on how appropriate everything was going. Upon questioning who the mysterious Vetrix was, Vetrix suddenly appeared, claiming that he'll crush them.

When Yuma and Astral went to Heartland tower to reclaim his lost deck, Faker suddenly appeared, as a giant sized hologram confronting them. He welcomed both Yuma and Astral, in which he had the ability to see the latter. When Astral questions Faker on why he's collecting numbers, he reveals that he made a deal with a mysterious being from the Barian World. If he destroyed Astral World, the Barians would give him unimaginable new powers to conquer Earth. Yuma tells Faker that he made Kite to become a number hunter to get power and that he and Hart were both suffering because of him. Dr. Faker revealed both of his sons were just pawns and that sacrifices must be necessary to get power, Kazuma being part of it as well. Faker dropped both of them, but not before returning Yuma's deck to him and telling Astral he was looking forward to the finals the next day.
