Dr. Aaron Hydeker is the main antagonist of the Supernatural episode "Something Wicked".
Posing as a doctor, he is secretly a shtriga who feeds on children's souls, which makes them incredibly sick and slowly kills them. The Shtriga is a revenant, a walking undead in a body that should have died a long time ago. It may not technically be dead, but it feeds on the spiritus vitae, draining the life force of its victims. That's what keeps it going. Usually it attacks children, working its way through all of the siblings in a family before moving on to the next.
He was portrayed by Adrian Hough.
History[]
Dr. Hydeker was a Shtriga that had kept himself alive for at least a century by devouring the souls of children, in the 1990's he once attempted to feed off of Sam Winchester when he was a kid, but was stopped by John Winchester who attempted to kill him, but he was able to escape. John was forced to call off the hunt to take his children to safety, and by the time he returned the Shrtiga had vanished.
He resurfaced years later in Fitchburg, Wisconsin where he was sucking the lifeforce out of children and making them sick as they slowly died. Eventually, he was defeated when Sam and Dean Winchester used one of the victim's brothers as bait for him. He was lured in and the brothers attacked him. He died when he attempted to feed off of Sam only to get killed by iron rounds that Dean fired at him.
Mythology[]
- According to Albanian folklore, a shtriga was a vampire-like witch who was said to suck the blood of infant children while they slept, and then turn into a flying insect.
