Dr. Ivan Kintobor is a major antagonist in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series by Archie Comics.
He is a 21st-century human scientist responsible for the death and dissection of the Xorda emissary, triggering a response of catastrophic scale from his peers. Though Kintobor attempted to cheat death by cryogenically freezing himself, it appears that this attempt failed and he was turned into a frozen corpse. He is an ancestor of Dr. Ivo Robotnik.
Biography[]
Ivan Kintobor was born on June 6, 2006 CE on Earth. Later in his life, he became a leading scientist in the field of cybernetics. When the alien race known as the Xorda sent an emissary to offer the humanity an alliance, their messenger was captured by the military. Ivan and his colleagues then dissected them, and utilized technology in their possession to create the power matrix for his robot Isaac. The Xorda were outraged by this action and bombed the planet with Gene Bombs to wipe out humanity in revenge. Having learnt of the impending disaster, Kintobor had himself put in stasis and tasked Isaac to ensure his survival. However, the scientist would end up dying while in stasis, though Isaac was unaware of this and still guarded his creator.
Kintobor's evil would influence the fate of his planet even millenia later, when it came to be known as Mobius. The Xorda, having learned that a portion of humanity had survived and mutated into Overlanders, and that Mobians, the planet's new dominant species, had elements of human DNA in them, attempted to destroy the planet outright, but were stopped by Sonic the Hedgehog. Dr. Finitevus also planned to use missiles stored inside Kintobor's base against Mobius, only to be foiled by Rouge the Bat.
