Villain Overview
Heh heh heh... Tomorrow will be a day to remember... ...Arale Norimaki's last day on Earth... The last day of Dr. Slump... And the day that Dr. Mashirito conquers the world!
~ Dr. Mashirito at the start of his world domination conquest.
I'LL BE BACK...!
~ Dr. Mashirito's last words before being erased from existance by Beerus.

Dr. Mashirito is the main antagonist of the Dr. Slump franchise. He also the arch-rival of his counterpart Senbei Norimaki and Arale Norimaki’s arch-nemesis.

He is voiced by the late Nachi Nozawa, Keiichi Noda and Ryōtarō Okiayu in the Japanese version, and by Barry Yandell in the English version.

Appearance[]

Dr. Mashirito's design changes throughout the chronology of Dr. Slump.

He starts out as a human being with a black, exaggerated afro, strange face and lab coat. His whole design is directly inspired by the caricature of Dr. Slump author Akira Toriyama's former editor: Kazuhiko Torishima.

When Caramel Man 004/Obotchaman is created in the mid-point of Dr. Slump, Dr. Mashirito's design remains largely the same, but he has a metal plate covering some of the right side of his face and his chin. His right hand is also replaced with a metallic, claw-like appendage.

After Caramel Man 007 crushes Mashirito's body, he converts his body into a robot with claws and a tread, where only some of his head and hair remain.

Once Dr. Mashirito gets blown up by a bomb that backfired on him in an attempt to kill Senbei, he converts himself into a tiny airplane-like body.

Following being blown up by yet another bomb from a failed scheme to blow up the Norimaki Residence, Mashirito converts himself into a combat robot where none of his original self remains except for some teeth and a top lip.

After being killed by Obotchaman in the "Who's the Strongest in the World?!" tournament, Dr. Mashirito regains his original human-look, but with added ghostly features since he was dead.

Personality[]

Dr. Mashirito is a cunning schemer with a go-getter attitude. He stops at nothing to attain his goal, despite many failures. He is aggressive, rude and stubborn to everyone he interacts with, if at all since he is often alone. He is egotistical and selfish, putting himself first for everything he does. Despite his intellect in robotics and scheming, he is dimwitted and lacks common sense often times due to how he executes his plans. Mashirito has shown himself to be a coward in the face of adversity, since he alone is not a threat to anyone. Like his rival, he is also a obsessive pervert who spies and reads dirty magazines about sexy women he lusts over.

History[]

Dr. Slump[]

Dr. Mashirito is introduced as he finishes his first shown robotic creation: Caramel Man 001. It is a fairly large mecha with super-strength and requires a operator inside its cockpit to move. Dr. Mashirito intended to use the robot to take over the world so he could do whatever he wanted. However, when he uses a magic mirror to find out the strongest robot of them all, it is Arale Norimaki. Dr. Mashirito then assumes that Arale's creator, Senbei Norimaki, was also intending to take over the world. He formulates a plan to destroy Arale since she may interfere with his. Dr. Mashirito sends a spy robot to Arale's house in Penguin Village to spy and spot any potential weaknesses of her build. He also reads through some Dr. Slump manga volumes to research. He realizes that Arale's stupidity is her strongest weapon, so smarts will not do good against her. Eventually after spying and researching on her, Dr. Mashirito comes to the conclusion that the robot's glasses are her downfall. Without them, she is rendered blind. He draws out a plan to take Arale's glasses, which will allow him to then destroy her with Caramel Man 001.

He proceeds to leave his laboratory within Caramel Man to get to Penguin Village by train. When Dr. Mashirito arrives there, he seeks out Arale as she is running to school. He finds her and calls for her attention, but she ignores him. Agitated, Mashirito throws a large boulder at her which brings Arale's recognition. He monologues to her about his intention to destroy her and conquer the world, but the girl is oblivious to the words. They get into a physics breaking fight involving other planets clashing with the Earth.

When Dr. Mashirito is aware that his attempts in battle are fruitless, he executes his plan to take Arale's glasses. It works, and Arale is left blinded since he swiped and threw her glasses aside. He had to separate himself from his robot to retrieve the glasses, so he tries to get back to it. However, Senbei and Gatchan had came by after seeing Arale out of school and Mashirito launches himself into Senbei. This is because Senbei had a distinct haircut that was identical to Caramel Man 001's head. The two doctors notice each other and exchange some bad-talk. Dr. Mashirito attempts returning to his robot so he can proceed to finish Arale off and destroy Senbei with her. Gatchan, the creature with a love for eating metal, had already eaten all but the head of the robot. In dumbfounded confusion, Dr. Mashirito cries and retreats with the remains of Caramel Man.

The ambition is left unfulfilled, but Dr. Mashirito recurs many times to retry his attempts to reach the goal of world domination.

Dragon Ball Super[]

Dr. Mashirito returns from the dead after successfully escaping hell (or HFIL in the Funimation dub) in his ghostly form to wreak havoc again. He invented a serum called "Playtime X" which increases a child's desire to play hundred times fold. He gave it to Arale off-screen and takes her and the Gatchans to the "World Invention Award" ceremony to cause chaos for everyone there. He was angry about not being invited to the event. Senbei and Trunks try fighting Mashirito, but since he is a ghost, he is immune to any kind of contact nor harm. When Beerus is summoned to the event due to try the best food in the universe via the Reality Machine 2, he destroys Dr. Mashirito with Destruction after he interrupts him from tasting the food. As he was subjected to the Hakai technique, Mashirito subsequently ceases to exist.
