Dr. Ivo Robotnik is the main antagonist of the 1993 Sonic the Hedgehog book series written by Michael Teitelbaum and illustrated by Glen Hanson. In a similar fashion to his Archie comic counterpart, Dr. Robotnik was an evil tyrant who took control over the planet Mobius, leading to Sonic to fight him.
Biography[]
Ivo Robotnik grew up alongside Sonic under the care of the inventor Uncle Chuck. While Sonic loved to run at incredible speeds, Robotnik spend his time building robotic servants. During his youth, Robotnik would frequently steal some parts from around the house, not caring who got hurt in the process. One such part was the key components of the tractor, which was hardly used, almost causing Chuck to crash had Sonic not come to the rescue. One of Robotnik's creations would tell Chuck the truth, which infuriated Chuck. Angered at this, Robotnik attacked with another robot, only for it to be destroyed by Sonic. Robotnik ran away, swearing revenge.
Over the course of eight years, Robotnik built an army and fortress for which he used to take over Mobius. Robotnik knew his former foster family had set up a chili dog restaurant with Sonic as the delivery boy, so he decided to use this to get back at them. Sonic was given a delivery order to one of Robotnik's bases, which was booby trapped and would have killed him, had Sonic's speed not improved over the years. Meanwhile, Chuck was taken away by Robotnik himself, for excessive fun, something the newly crowned tyrant forbade.
Chuck was among those converted into a robotic servant by Robotnik into becoming the new workforce. They were only given 30 minutes each for food and sleep. Sonic, who since escaped and teamed up with the former Princess Sally, now leader of the Freedom Fighters, managed to free Chuck and several other citizens, only to turn them back with Chuck's power ring invention.
