Dr. Saionji is an effeminate scientist working as a researcher for the Super Science Network and an antagonist in episode 8 of Tokusou Robo Janperson.
He is portrayed by Kenichi Endō.
Biography[]
For his plan to destroy Janperson, Dr. Saionji kidnapped wanted criminal Machinegun Joe and used the Memory Foam he had developed to copy his likeness. Saionji then set Joe loose to commit a robbery in order to lure out Janperson. Once Janperson arrived, Saionji sprayed him with the Memory Foam to turn him into a copy of Joe, causing the police to chase him under the impression that he was Joe.
While appearing as Joe, Janperson rescued a boy who had become trapped under rubble that had fallen due to Saionji's goons shooting it, causing the boy to believe that Machinegun Joe had saved him. After hearing the boy stick up for him, the real Joe was convinced to have a change of heart and shielded Janperson and the boy from gunfire from Saionji's goons, before telling Janperson the location of the secret SS-N base.
Janperson pursued Saionji to his lair and inadvertently triggered the Foam Memory Cell spray, causing Saionji to be sprayed by it and transformed into another copy of Machinegun Joe. Saionji then had himself sprayed with the antidote in order to restore his appearance, but Janperson pushed him away and stood under the antidote spray to restore himself to normal as well. After returning to his normal appearance, Saionji pulled out his mirror to look at himself and realized that his exposure to the Memory Foam had caused his skin to age. Saionji then trapped Janperson in a cage and gathered up the rest of the Memory Foam before setting his lair to self destruct and fleeing. However, Janperson managed to escape by summoning his Sky Jaycar and went after Saionji.
Janperson chased down Saionji and caused the bag of Memory Foam to blow open, causing Saionji to be sprayed by it and have his appearance turned into that of Machinegun Joe again. As he resembled Machinegun Joe, Saionji was arrested by Kojiro Komoi and Shiro Takaido of the police department under the impression he was the criminal. The two detectives brought Saionji to jail, only to find the real Machinegun Joe was already in a cell. The two Joes then attempted to convince the detectives that the other was the real Joe.
Despite him previously boasting to be Reiko Ayanokouji's "number one favorite", the SS-N leader was unconcerned with his defeat, deeming him another failure.
