Doctor Salvador, also known as the Chainsaw Man is a supporting antagonist in Resident Evil 4 and its 2023 remake. He, along with his Giant Chainsaw Man (Super Salvador) form are the most powerful of the Ganado, and is one of the most iconic villains in the series.
Appearance[]
In both the original game and remake, Salvador's general design is similar to the other Ganados, wearing a typical farmer's outfit. However, he is distinguished by way of wearing a potato sack over his head, with eyeholes cut out for him to see. In the remake, he is depicted as having bloodshot eyes, and the potato sack is tied around his neck with rope.
Biography[]
Going by his name, Salvador was presumably the village's resident medical professional. He, like all the other Ganado, was once a kind and hardworking man of the community, and possibly made efforts to try and treat his fellow villagers when they began succumbing to Las Plagas. Just like the rest unfortunately, the village Chief Bitores Méndez convinced Salvador to infect himself with the parasite. The Plaga turned Salvador into the most ferocious and hostile Ganado of all, granting him immense superhuman durability and brutal physical strength. The only other villagers that came close to his level of rage and violence were the Bella Sisters. Along with his fellow villagers, he engaged and hunted Special Agent Leon Kennedy across the village and beyond, but would ultimately be killed by him.
Personality[]
Given that he was once a Doctor, Salvador was likely a benevolent man who wanted to and enjoyed helping others. The village was a very closely knit community and once a place of joy, but all that came to a tragic and horrifying end when Osmund Saddler arrived. Infected with Las Plagas, Salvador became a bloodcrazed berserker who's seemingly only drive in life (which, was that of a the parasite within him) was to brutally massacre anyone not infected with the parasite. Unlike most other Ganados who approached Leon cautiously, Dr. Salvador would rush him on sight, screaming like a bloodthirsty maniac with every swing of his chainsaw.
