Biography[]
Past[]
Not much is known about the individual who would become Dr. Thrax, including his real name. He studied as an immunologist in Jordan and received his degree from a mail order college before dropping off the man in 1995 and later resurfacing as a chemical brewer who dealt chemical weapons to various terrorist and criminal groups across the globe, including the GLA. Dr. Thrax would eventually rise to become one of the leaders of the GLA and a key player in many of their operations, with his name becoming infamous worldwide.
Command & Conquer: Generals[]
Dr. Thrax was one of the main leaders of the GLA during the First GLA War. After partaking in the launch of a chemical warhead from Baikonur Cosmodrome against a US naval base in northern Europe, the US began pursuing the scientist, identifying him as a key leader within the GLA . After the US military took GLA's oil fields in Iran and cut off his funding, they moved to take his main base in Area 52. Thrax attempted to launch four warheads against key metropolitan centres around the globe but his plans were foiled by the US army with help from some GLA defectors, who were put off by Thrax's insanity. After a hard fought battle, Thrax's base was destroyed by the US and Thrax seemingly perished along with it, though his true fate was unknown. His disappearance led to a short power struggle within the GLA.
Command & Conquer: Generals 2[]
In the cancelled sequel, Thrax would have been revealed to still be alive and be one of the main generals for the GLA in the game.
Play Strategy[]
Thrax is a playable faction in the game's Skirmish mode. His units focus on chemical warfare and are quite lethal, especially against infantry, while his variant of the Anthrax Bomber is devastating against all types of units. However, he lacks some of the more subversion-oriented units of other GLA factions, such as the hijacker. He also does not use as many high-explosive weapons.
