Dr. Tyler Adler is a major antagonist in the webcomic Clinic of Horrors, serving as the main antagonist of the mushroom parasite arc.
He is a former doctor who became a parasitic mutation after his corpse was reanimated by fungi, bent on infecting everyone at Capital City University and making them part of the "wood wide web".
Biography[]
Past[]
Not too much is known of what Dr. Adler was like in the past. What is known was that he used to work for the same organization as Charlie Albright before he died. Somewhere down the line, his corpse was infected with a mushroom mutation bringing him back to life.
Mushroom Parasite Arc[]
Dr. Adler arrives at a university in Capital City where he introduces himself as the latest teacher in the school. The students take notice of the mushroom on his head, which he informs them is harmless. Not all of the students buy that though as Michaelis and Bianca are quick to be wary of him.
When Bianca speaks with some trash blob mutations who warn her of a danger in the school, Dr. Adler pours some sanitizer on them to kill them, telling Bianca that mutations are dangerous, further causing Bianca to distrust him.
Sure enough, Bianca finds her fellow students beginning to grow mushrooms on their heads as well, including Sarah. Upon examination, Bianca realizes the mushrooms are parasites and that being infected for a prolonged period of time would kill the students. She even figures out that Adler is nothing more than a reanimated corpse. Of course, As Sarah attempts to touch Bianca, Michaelis pulls her away for her safety. It is there that he finds out the infection causes the students to see him for what he actually is, prompting him and Bianca to run to the medical room for a cure where he finds out Bianca had also been infected as she starts acting nothing like how she normally would by smiling, and she becomes hostile and starts stabbing him when he works on curing her. When Bianca is cured, she is horrified at what she did and takes the cure to the school's water supply.
Adler, having been the one responsible for the outbreak and even being aware of Bianca attacking Michaelis, attempts to negotiate with Bianca, stating he would let her cure the students on the condition she lets him infect them again if they want it. Bianca refuses to have any of that as she dumps the cure into the water supply and turns on the sprinklers, curing everybody in the school. Angered, Adler lashes out at her and attempts to strangle her to death, only for Bianca to jab him with some of the cure.
In spite of this, Dr. Adler survives thanks to Mister Yellow. With this survival, Adler swear vengeance against Bianca.
Yellow Corp[]
Forced to work for Yellow Corp, Adler provides his services to Mister Yellow for his goal of creating a safe haven. However, he also make a deal with Mister Yellow to let him have his way with Bianca when she gets invited. After Mister Yellow attempts to convince Bianca to work with him, Bianca expresses disgust in his goal as nothing about it is healthy. With this, Mister Yellow lets Dr. Adler take Bianca, though he forbids Adler for outright killing her. Dr. Adler finds the alternative just as satisfying as he prepares to forcibly ingrain his mushroom into Bianca's brain. Before he can though, Bianca says "Big Father owes me", causing a giant trash blob mutation to burst through the floor. Adler orders the nurses that Mister Yellow left with him to get him out of there, only for them all to be engulfed and devoured by Big Father, ending the parasitic doctor once and for all.
