The Wyvern Generals, also known as the Dragon Generals, are major antagonists in the Fire Emblem franchise. They are a group made of the strongest, smartest and deadliest officers of the Kingdom of Bern and are ranked right below Zephiel in Bern's military.
They act as major antagonists in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, background characters in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and Fire Emblem Engage and minor characters in Fire Emblem Heroes.
Biography[]
The Wyvern Generals are King Zephiel's most powerful minions and are as fearsome as him during battles. They have rotating members, but during the events of The Blazing Blade Murdock was the only active member of the group shown on screen, though a former member of the group shows up in this game: General Vaida. During The Blazing Blade, Murdock was already serving Prince Zephiel - who was only the heir to the throne back then - and tried to protect him from his abusive and incompetent father King Desmond, who despised him out of belief that Zephiel wanted to take his throne. Desmond went as far as hiring the Black Fangs assassin in attempt to kill Zephiel, but Eliwood, Lyn and Hector manage dto foil that plan, which led both Murdock and Vaida to reward out of gratitude for saving the prince.
Some times later, Desmond tried to poison and kill him, only for his son to survive the ordeal and end his father's life. After that incident and Murdock nursing Zephiel back to health, the latter came to see humans as horrible and twisted individuals who must killed. This led Zephiel to kickstart a war campaign in order to rule the world and give it back to dragons, who Zephiel believed to be better than humans.
In The Binding Blade, the Wyvern Generals are in charge of Bern's assaults, with each general being sent to conquer a specific country. The team's members are Narcian (tasked with conquering Lycia) Brunnya (tasked with conquering Sacae) and the very same Murdock (who leads the invasion of Ilia). During the conquest of Lycia, Narian sends his henchmen against Roy in an attempt to stop the remnant of the Lycian League. He later even attempts to take over the region when Hector, now the head of the League, is killed by Zephiel during a fight. However his plan fails and his allies Erik and Leygance are killed by Roy.
He later attempts to take over Etruria with traitors Roartz and Arcard and attempts to defeat the Etrurian General Cecilia - first on his own, then with his king's help - but Roy saves the Mage General and forces him to withdraw. Zephiel demotes Narcian in front of his failures and replaces him by his rival Galle, only for the former general to die while attempting to protect the capital of Etruria from Roy. Roartz and Arcard are sent to defend strongholds in either Ilia or Sacae by Murdock and Brunnya, but both are killed in battle.
Murdock and Galle are later sent to guard the Shrine of Seals where lies the Binding Blade, the one weapon which can defeat the Demon Dragon released by the King of Bern. Alas for the generals, Roy stops the two of them, takes the Binding Blade, invades Bern Castle and slays Zephiel. Brunnya, the only general, remaining decides to follow her late monarch's last wish and entrusts Iduun to Zephiel's co-conspirator Jahn before meetign Roy's army in battle and dying in the ensuing confrontation. With her death, the Wyvern Generals were presumably dissolved, at least for a time.

- While there is normally three Wyvern Generals at a time, the Lycian League faces four of them due to Galle replacing Narcian midway through The Binding Blade.
- The Dragon Generals share the battle theme "In the Name of Bern", but neither Galle nor Vaida use it in battle.
- Vaida is the only Wyvern General fought in The Blazing Blade, due to her alliance with the Black Fangs.
