Dragonlord Placidusax is a major antagonist and an optional boss of 2022 action-RPG game Elden Ring. He is the lord of the dragons that served as Elden Lord during the Age of Dragons, long before the reign of Marika and the Golden Order.
When the Greater Will claimed power over the Lands Between, the Golden Order, led by Godfrey, fought against the dragons and eventually defeated them. Placidusax eventually went into hiding beneath the storm at the Crumbling Farum Azula.
Appearance[]
Placidusax is a large golden dragon who appears to be heavily scarred from his battle with Bayle. He was originally born with born with five heads, but three of them have been ripped off, leaving him with only two. His skin and wings appear to have been ripped and shredded, leaving him with a very weathered appearance. Compared to other dragons and wyverns, his limbs are at a much larger scale.
Biography[]
Placidusax was the Elden Lord of the Lands Between long before the Age of the Erdtree, under the influence of an unknown god and was protected by the Farum Azula Beastmen. During his rulership, one of his former servants, Bayle, attempted to take his place as the Dragonlord, leading to a brutal battle between the two. The battle left them both heavily injured, but Placidusax was able drive Bayle away to the Land of Shadow.
At some point, the Greater Will came down the Lands Between and decided to replace the dragons with humans and the dragon king with the Empyrean, Marika. The Golden Order then later waged war against the dragons. Led by Godfrey, the armies of the Golden Order were successful and dragons lost their rule. Placidusax eventually retreated beyond the storm at Crumbling Farum Azula and started to wait his god to return.
