“ | The world belongs to me, Emperor of Space Draias! | „ |
~ Draias |
Draias is the main antagonist of the anime series The Brave of Sun Fighbird. He is an energy being who comes to Earth and teams up with the mad scientist Dr. Jango Tarantino in secret to bring ruin to the world, forcing the Space Police Force to fight him with the help of the Japanese scientist Dr. Hiroshi Amano. A Minus Energy Lifeform, Draias feeds on the pain and suffering, especially from Plus Energy Lifeforms. He is also Fighbird's archenemy.
He was voiced by late Daisuke Gōri.
Appearance[]
For the first half of the series, Draias appears as a pair of gigantic red eyes glowing in darkness, ordering Dr. Jango to do his bidding. Once he comes out from the shadows, he's revealed to have possessed a gigantic robot with white body, red shoulder pads, two blue wings, and a blue helmet. His main body is the 3-Beast Combination, a combination of three simultaneous beast forms he transforms into: Death Tiger, Death Dragon and Death Eagle.
Personality[]
Draias seeks to absorb the universe's energy so that he can recreate it as one full of darkness, and doesn't care about how many people he has to destroy and enslave to achieve that goal. He is also very arrogant that he calls himself the Space Emperor, and doesn't tolerate failure. As time goes by, he starts to correctly suspect that Dr. Jango is planning to betray him, despite the latter's denial.
Despite his ruthlessness, Draias is also pragmatic, as he at times rejects Dr. Jango's plans of massacre since he still needs lifeforms to feed on the pain and suffering of. He also sometimes shows care for his subordinates, Shura and Zol, as shown when he shares his Minus Energy to their robots, allowing them to become stronger in the final battle.
Biography[]
In 2010, Draias alongside his minions Shura and Zol come to Earth while being pursued by the Space Police Force. There, in secret, they join forces with Dr. Jango, whose androids are possessed by Shura and Zol, and the four plan to plunge the Earth into darkness and enslave humanity, all for Draias' larger plan of becoming the emperor of a universe without light.
For the first half of the series, Draias stays behind the scenes while Dr. Jango carries out his plans, but they always fail. He finally fully reveals himself in episode 19 during the invasion on America and successfully captures the Space Police Force members, but Guard Wing rescues them. Since then, Draias becomes more active and proves himself as a truly dangerous opponent to the Space Police Force.
Near the end of the series, Draias enslaves many humans and forces them to build the Devil's Tower, which will accumulate the Minus Energy from the universe and turn him into a god. Meanwhile, he also evolves into Organic Draias and almost succeeds in his goal. However the Great Fighbird, the Space Police Force's last active member, combines his fallen teammates' power into the Triple Fire Cross and destroys Draias once and for all.
