The Drakon Empire are the overarching antagonists of the Sonic the Comic comic book series. They are an alien empire originating from Planet Drak that had sought to take over Planet Mobius for millenia.

Over 8000 years ago, the Drakon Empire created Chaos Energy, but it was too unstable for them to control. When the Empire invaded Mobius, they raided the Echidna Empire's Emerald Mines and used the emeralds from it as containers for the energy, bringing about the birth of Chaos Emeralds. The Drakons and Echidnas began a war for the fate of Mobius, during which Sonic the Hedgehog, a hero from the future, was brought into their time period. During one Drakon attack, a Prosecutor was captured by Sonic and kept prisoner in a temple. When the other Drakons attacked it, they left the Prosecutor behind, but he came into contact with Chaos Energy and became Chaos. Sonic was eventually sent back into his own time, while Chaos was defeated and imprisoned by the Echidnas. Ultimately, the Drakon Empire failed to conquer Mobius, but some of their abandoned strongholds on the planet remained standing.

Eventually, Robotnik and Grimer discovered the Drakons' stronghold on Flickies' Island, as well as the Mobius Ring they left behind. The former was captured by the Drakons and brought to Drak. Ko-Dorr, the current Emperor, realized that Robotnik could help him obtain the Chaos Emeralds, and made an alliance with him. Sonic was captured by the Drakons and put on trial by combat, but ultimately ruled innocent. Grimer eventually led the Drakon forces to the Chaos Emeralds on the Floating Island, but, instead of letting them have it, teleported them away once they were secure, so that Robotnik would possess them instead.

Emperor Ko-Dorr of the House of War was eventually deposed and replaced by Brokken, while Master Scholar and Sister Haggra of the Houses of Knowledge and Magic remained in power. Sonic had to turn to Scholar's assistance to save Mobius from the Syndicate. Scholar gave him a Chaos Tap, which prevented the destruction of the planet by the Chaos Sython. The Drakons, however, had an ulterior motive in regards to assisting Sonic. They used the Chaos Tap, and the still insane Robotnik, to create the New Robotnik Empire, which would conquer Mobius for them. When Robotnik was defeated, and the Drakon Empire was in the midst of a civil war, Master Scholar attempted to deal with Mobius personalliy, going as far as to teleport Drak towards Mobius in an attempt to destroy the latter. Sonic, however, saved Mobius with his newly discovered Hyper form, and brought upon the Drakon Empire's collapse, whose leaders were then arrested by the rebels, who vowed to create a better government than the Empire was.
Overview[]
The Drakons are fish-like aliens who move on dry land with the help of mechanical exo-suits, but are weak without them. The Empire was jointly ruled by several Great Houses, most notably those of War (headed by an emperor), Knowledge (headed by a scholar) and Magic (headed by a witch from a sisterhood). They are highly militaristic, believing that might makes right, and deciding justice through trials of combat.
