Dralath was a male Romulan and antagonist who was introduced in the Star Trek: The Lost Era novel Vulcan's Heart.
Dralath served as Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire during the first part of the 24th century while the Romulans were in self-imposed isolation from the rest of the galaxy. Widely considered to be mad by his fellow Romulans, Dralath was a murderer who once killed a political rival on the floor of the Romulan Senate.
In 2344, Dralath turned against the KlingonEmpire, who were still allies with the Romulans and had his forces attack Klingon outposts near the border. These included both Khitomer and Narendra III. The attack on Narendra III backfired on the Romulans when the USS Enterprise-C made a valiant effort to save the outpost. Even though the Enterprise failed to save the outpost, the act cemented the alliance between the Federation and the Klingons - which up until that point had been on shaky ground.
Realizing that Dralath would lead the Empire into an all out war that could destroy the Empire, the former Admiral Narviat deposed Dralath a short time later with assistance from Spock, Saavik, and Commander Liviana Charvanek and placed Dralath under arrest.
Escaping from Romulus on a warbird, Dralath intercepted Spock's ship as it returned to Vulcan. Dralath was killed when the warbird was destroyed by the USS Stargazer under the command of Jean-Luc Picard.
