~ Drathul's last words |
Drathul was a major antagonist in The Unifying Force, the final book of the New Jedi Order series. Introduced in Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial, Drathul was featured as a minor antagonist throughout the series until reaching a position of prominence in The Unifying Force.
The Invasion[]
Agents of Chaos[]
Drathul was first depicted as the Prefect of the worldship Harla. He was noted to have his misgivings about his subordinate Executer Nom Anor. In spite of this, he agrees to keep Anor in the forefront of the invasion.
Force Heretic[]
Drathul vanished from Star Wars novels until the Force Heretic trilogy, where he appeared as a member of the Supreme Overlord's court. After High Prefect Yoog Skell was assassinated by Nom Anor, Drathul was escalated to his position. Unbeknownst to him, Drathul's former subordinate Anor was manipulating events in Shimrra's court under the guise of Prophet Yu'shaa. In doing this, Drathul faced embarrassment as many of his subordinates were accused of associating with the Jeedai heresy.
The Unifying Force[]
In the final installment of the series, Nom Anor reemerged in Shimrra's court, now escalated to the position of Prefect. Because of this, Anor was now Drathul's immediate subordinate. During the novel, Drathul was revealed to be a Quorealist, a supporter of the late Supreme Overlord Quoreal. As such, Drathul requested Anor's help in discrediting Shimrra. The Prefect refused. At the climax of the novel, Drathul (along with Most High Priest Jakan and Master Shaper Qelah Kwaad) attempted to sacrifice High Priest Harrar and the Solos to the World Brain. However, when the heretics stormed the atrium, Drathul was strangled by the treacherous Nom Anor.
