Drax Industries are the main antagonists of the 1979 James Bond film Moonraker. It is an aerospace manufacturing company owned by billionaire Hugo Drax, which secretly acts as a front for his genocidal plan to eradicate most of humanity.
History[]
Drax Industries was used by Hugo Drax as a front for his eugenics plan, which would involve killing everyone on Earth with a deadly nerve gas he developed from the rare Orchidae Nigra of South America, while Drax and those he deemed genetically superior would wait out the cleansing in Drax's space station. Once every human being on Earth had been killed, Drax and his chosen would return to the planet and establish a new society with Drax as ruler.
During the course of preparation for the plan, one of the Moonraker space shuttles that Drax Industries had developed and was using for the plan malfunctioned. To replace it, Drax arranged the hijacking of a Moonraker shuttle he had sold to the British government and faked its destruction. This however drew enough suspicion from the British government that James Bond was sent in to investigate.
However, James Bond, with help from CIA agent Holly Goodhead, was able to sneak aboard Drax's Space Station and disable its radar jamming device, allowing a force of American marines to assault it and do battle against Drax's private army. Drax was killed by James Bond, but not before he had sent out three pods containing the nerve gas. Before the pods could reach Earth however, they were all shot and destroyed by James and Goodhead using one of Drax's shuttles.
