Personality[]

Starscream: I'm sure that even your beloved Dreadwing isn't perfect.
Megatron: No one is perfect, Starscream, but like his departed twin, Dreadwing understands honor.
~ Starscream and Megatron about Dreadwing.

Like his brother, Dreadwing goes by a code of honor. This code includes loyalty to leaders which, in their case, is Megatron. Dreadwing is a proud, but humble Decepticon, knowing how to respect his enemies such as Optimus Prime, deciding not to be done with him until the next time they meet again after teaming up with the Autobot. His loyalty to the cause of the Decepticons saw him quickly be promoted to lieutenant following his disobedience to his master's orders to save him from an Autobot ambush.

Much like Skyquake, Dreadwing can easily get angry, but seems to have more control over his emotions. His restraint had limits however, when he found out what Starscream had done to his late twin and that Megatron was planning to cover it up, Dreadwing became so bitter that he betrayed his side by offering the Forge of Solus Prime to the autobots and attempted to kill Starscream for his actions, refusing to obey Megatron when he tells him to stop, which ends up causing his downfall.

Biography[]

Dreadwing is large and powerful even by Decepticon standards. He is even more powerful than his brother Skyquake since he has better speed in activating weaponry against the Autobots. He has a strong desire for bombs and explosives.

Although thousands of light years away, Dreadwing felt his brother's awakening on earth just like his death. Saddened by Skyquake's death, Dreadwing decided to go to the blue planet to find out what happened to his twin.

Making his debut in Loose Cannons, Dreadwing trades fire with Wheeljack who hasn't stopped hunting him since the Decepticon slaughtered several of his fellow Wreckers. One of them being Seaspray who was killed by Dreadwing’s proximity bomb, when he intercepted both Wheeljack and Seaspray contact. When Team Prime arrives as reinforcements, Dreadwing manages to escape by scanning Agent Fowler's jet. Once inside himself, Dreadwing activates a signal to attract the attention of the Nemesis. On board, he renews his loyalty to Megatron while also telling her why he came to Earth. Megatron confirmed that Skyquake did perish by the Autobots but it was Starscream's doing.

Dreadwing was keen to avenge his brother's death, but Megatron ordered him to leave it be as Dreadwing is under his rule and conflicting with agendas would result in failure. Dreadwing disobeyed, and lured Wheeljack and Bulkhead into a trap. Using Bulkhead as bait, Dreadwing intended to kill Wheeljack and Optimus Prime in a cargo port, and while waiting informed Megatron of his plan when he discovered him gone. However, the Autobot leader was tougher than Dreadwing anticipated, and he was soon forced to disarm the bomb he'd planted on Bulkhead after failing to call Optimus's bluff, but retreated back to the Nemesis, where he decided to leave vengeance for another time and pledged his loyalty to Megatron.

In Crossfire, Megatron tasks Dreadwing a mission to eliminate Airachnid, who Megatron no longer has any trust in. Under the pretext of searching for an energon mine, Dreadwing and Breakdown take Airachnid to a secluded location to do what needs to be done. Unfortunately, Breakdown's impulsiveness ruins the duo's element of surprise, allowing Airachnid to counter her would-be executioners. She restrains Dreadwing with a web attack, where he orders Breakdown to set him free, but the Decepticon instead chases Airachnid and ends up being slaughtered by her. Later, Dreadwing quietly follows Megatron to a cave despite his orders where he saves his master injured by an Insecticon from being captured by the Autobots. Upon returning to the Nemesis, Megatron at first appears to berate him for disobeying his orders to help him but then states that Dreadwing will make an excellent first lieutenant.

In Flying Mind, Dreadwing was on the Nemesis when it crashed and informed Megatron of the full extent of the damage. Under Knock Out's suggestion, Megatron brought it back online with Dark Energon, the newly-awoken intelligence in the ship went rogue. Dreadwing, along with the rest of the Decepticons, attempted to find a way to shut the ship down, but was put into stasis-lock. He remained in that state until the Autobot human kids removed the Dark Energon from the ship's power core.

In Triangulation, Megatron sends Dreadwing and a vehicular squadron to Antarctica to retrieve another Iacon relic. Arrived on the frozen plains, Dreadwing confronts a renegade Starscream also in search of the relics. Although attempted to kill him on the spot, Dreadwing just takes Starscream prisoner to deliver him to his master later. Once at the coordinates, Dreadwing discovers that the relics are already there. Optimus shows up soon after and it comes to the exchange of gunfire. All the Vehicons are killed and Dreadwing ends up buried in an avalanche. The Decepticon later exfiltrates the snow before tracking down the Autobot at a research base. There, he accuses Starscream of having no real honor due to his unwillingly assisting Optimus. As another battle between the two Colossi begins, Starscream recovers the relic found to be the Apex Armor, an indestructible Cybertronian armor and attempts to kill Optimus and Dreadwing. The two are eventually forced to help each other, exploding the ice beneath the renegade. Dreadwing decides to let Optimus go but promises that next time he will finish him off.

In Alpha/Omega, Dreadwing offers to lead a squad to attack the Autobots while they have the Star Saber, but MEgatron refuses to do so due to the power of the Star Saber can obliterate them. Searching an alternatives to tip the balance of power in the Decepticon's favor, Dreadwing suggest using the Forge of Solus Prime, a another ancient relics but it can only be used by a hand of a Prime, which gives Megatron an idea. Dreadwing instead accompanied Megatron on a trip through the space bridge to Cybertron. There, the pair broke into a tomb and retrieved the arm of Liege Maximo, although Dreadwing had an adverse to desecration due to his twin's fate. After the arm was grafted on to Megatron, Dreadwing watched his leader use the Forge of Solus Prime to create the Dark Star Saber.

In Hard Knocks, Dreadwing is later sent out to retrieve the second of the four Omega Keys, which is located in a forest. When Bulkhead and Smokescreen arrive, he has set several of his bombs up on the various trees, but they escape. Bulkhead sends Smokescreen to find the relic while he fights Dreadwing. Bulkhead goaded Dreadwing into fighting him. Though Dreadwing attempted to take Bulkhead out with a bomb, Bulkhead turned the tables and it was Dreadwing who was knocked out with his own explosive. Megatron was once again unhappy at Dreadwing's failure. Although thanks to Soundwave, Dreadwing also witness the sideproject to also locate the Autobot base.

In Inside Job, after losing their Omega Keys to the Autobots, Dreadwing conferred with Megatron about locating the Autobot's base, when they found Starscream on the Nemesis bridge. His first instinct was to pull out his gun to kill Starscream, but Megatron motioned for him to lower it, as Starscream showed him the Omega Keys.

In Patch, as Megatron considered Starscream's request to rejoin the Decepticons, he ordered Dreadwing to remove Knock Out from the wall so that they could use a cortical psychic patch to interrogate Starscream. Dreadwing later arrived and stopped Knock Out from prematurely disconnecting the link. During Megatron's interrogation of Starscream, Dreadwing discovered that Starscream had revived Skyquake as a zombified Terrorcon and now wonders another dimension endlessly, thereby disgracing his honourable end. As Megatron told Starscream to not tell Dreadwing about this, Dreadwing felt betrayed by Megatron, and thus betrayed the Decepticons by stealing the Forge of Solus Prime, an ancient relic, from the Decepticons and gave it to the Autobots.

Despite his betrayal to the Decepticons, Dreadwing denied Optimus Prime's offer of joining the Autobots, saying that betraying his kind does not mean siding with the other. When he returned to the Decepticon base, he tried to destroy Starscream in an attempt to avenge his brother, but was then commanded by Megatron to stand down. He disobeyed, and right before he could kill Starscream with his blade, Megatron shot him in the back with his own cannon, leaving a large hole through his chest, killing Dreadwing. Despite his death, Optimus was able to use it to turn the GroundBridge into a fully-fledged Space Bridge, and to reforge the Star Saber.

Abilities & Weapons[]

  • Cybertronian Physiology: As a robotic organism, Dreadwing is a robotic-looking being, much larger, stronger, and more dangerous than any other life form.
    • Superhuman Strength: Dreadwing is on par with Optimus Prime. He was able to lift Starscream with one hand and even send Bulkhead flying several meters, whereas Bulkhead resorted to his weapons to knock Dreadwing the same meters.
    • Superhuman Durability: Dreadwing's body can take heavy damage, both energetic and physical.
    • Superhuman Speed: Dreadwing moves with exceptional speed, outpacing most Cybertronians and performing swift maneuvers in battle. In his flight mode, he is able to fly even faster.
    • Superhuman Agility: Despite his large size, Dreadwing exhibits remarkable agility, allowing him to perform complex movements and dodge attacks with precision.
    • Superhuman Stamina: He can operate for extended periods without tiring, making him highly effective in prolonged combat scenarios.
    • Superhuman Reflexes: Dreadwing's advanced reflexes enable him to react to threats in a fraction of a second, giving him an edge in fast-paced battles. He manage to dodge Bulkhead's mace while charging at him at full speed.
    • Longevity: Like all Cybertronians, Dreadwing can live for millions of years, making him nearly ageless and able to withstand the passage of time without physical degradation.
    • Space Survivability: Like all Cybertronians, Dreadwing doesn't need oxygen to breathe and can survive the vacuum of space.
    • Transformation: Dreadwing has an internal organ called the T-Cog which he uses to copy data from any vehicle and then transform himself into it. He gained the ability to transform into an airplane after scanning Agent Fowler's own plane.
  • Combat Expert: Dreadwing was able to put pressure on Optimus and Wheeljack single-handedly. He also had the upper hand against Bulkhead, with Bulkhead using his weapons to get an edge on him.

    • Claws: The tips of Dreadwing's fingers are equipped with claws capable of slashing even Optimus.
    • Laser Cannon: Dreadwing's main weapon, is a giant laser cannon that is similar to Skyquake's machine gun, as it has a chainsaw-style grip, with a blade or bayonet mounted on top of it. But fires laser blasts instead of rapid fire machines guns. In antartica, Dreadwing also fired several grenades at Optimus. This is unique compared to many weapons like the Autobots can transform their arms into blasters.
    • Energon Sword: Dreadwing has a Energon sword which is used for close-range combat. The sword is also collapsible to fold when Dreadwing doesn’t use it.
    • Proximity bombs: Dreadwing uses various proximity bombs which can detonate by using a phone-like device to activate these bombs.
    • Sidearm: Dreadwing also has a sidearm, although he never used it in combat as it was only seen in "Crossfire".

Victims[]

  • Seaspray (attempted)
  • Roadbuster (possibly)

Quotes[]

Dreadwing: Lord Megatron, I live to serve.
Megatron: Rise, Dreadwing. Loyalty such as yours is a rare commodity.
Dreadwing: Mine runs deep and true, yet it is not loyalty alone that brought me here. I seek confirmation of the demise of one whom I considered a brother.
Megatron: How did you learn of his passing?
Dreadwing: My twin and I shared a split Spark. We're metal, but two halves of the same life force. Even across the galaxy, I sensed when he emerged from stasis on this planet and when his Spark was no more.
Megatron: It is true. Skyquake perished at the hands of the Autobots, though not, in fact, under my watch.
Dreadwing: Then by the pit, every last Autobot on this accursed world will pay.
Megatron: The Autobots will be punished for their crime, and many others, how and when I see fit.
Dreadwing: But master...
Megatron: Conflicting agendas will only result in chaos and failure. You would be wise to remember that, Dreadwing. You are under my command now, and as such, you must follow my lead.
~ Dreadwing reunited with his master, Megatron, while revealing that he came after sensing his brother's death.
Dreadwing: You command no one, deserter.
Starscream: Skyquake? B-but you're...
Dreadwing: You mistake me for my brother, who is one with the Allspark, as you are, no doubt, aware, former commander Starscream. Were it up to me, I would end this here and now. [Handcuff Starscream] But it is my duty as first lieutenant to Megatron to render all traitors to my lord and master for due punishment.
Starscream: First lieutenant?! That's my post!
~ Dreadwing capturing Starscream in Antarctica.
Bulkhead: You love doing your dirty work from a distance, don't ya? Too bad you don't have the ball bearings to fight up close and personal.
Dreadwing: In this particular case, I will be all too happy to make an exception.
~ Dreadwing fights Bulkhead.
Dreadwing: Starscream. I regret to inform you that you will not live to spread your wings ever again. [Shoots with his cannon but misses Starscream]
Starscream: Dreadwing, what has gotten into you? Wait. This is about Skyquake, isn't it? I thought we had put that behind us!
Dreadwing: So had I!
Starscream: Casualties are an unfortunate consequence of war! But I assure you, your twin met his end with great honor!
Dreadwing:WHICH YOU DISGRACED BY RAISING HIM FROM THE DEAD!!
Starscream: Oh, you know about that. There must be something I can do, some form of reparation I can offer to alleviate your anguish!
Dreadwing: Your spark will suffice!
Megatron: DREADWING!!!! Stand down!
Dreadwing: This desecrator must pay for his actions!
Starscream: You call this loyalty, master?!
Megatron: I said stand down! That is an order.
Dreadwing: One which I cannot follow.
~ Dreadwing attempts to kill Starscream for desecrating Skyquake's death, also his last words as he refuses to obey Megatron's order to stand down before being executed by him.
