Drej Queen Susquehana is the main antagonist of Don Bluth's 10th and most recent theatrical animated feature film Titan A.E..

She is the Drej Queen, the ultimate leader of an energy-based alien race known as the Drej, possibly with smaller-ranking Queens under her command.

She was voiced by Christopher Scarabosio, who also provided the vocal sound effects of the Behemoth in the 2004 film Hellboy.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Susquehana ruled over the Drej with an iron fist, leading the most feared army on the galaxy, believed to be indestructible due to having bodies made of pure energy, invulnerable to conventional weapons.

Destruction of Earth[]

In the year 3028 AD, after mankind invented a device capable of creating planets known as Project Titan, Susquehana ordered the destruction of planet Earth, believing the project to threaten the Drej's influence over the universe. She blasted the planet into pieces from her mothership while her drones tried to stop any evacuation ships leaving the planet's atmosphere. However, the Titan spaceship carrying the device managed to escape, along with some other human ships that scattered across the galaxy.

Susquehana spent the next fifteen years searching for the Titan after its head researcher, Professor Sam Tucker, hid it somewhere. Her drones eventually found him, but were unable to get the ship's location from him and killed him.

Conquest[]

Susquehana offered a monetary reward to anyone who could help the Drej find the Titan. This caught the attention of Joseph Korso, the captain of the Valkyrie and former friend of Professor Tucker. Korso knew Tucker had installed a map leading to the Titan in a ring he entrusted to his young son Cale before leaving Earth. Korso went to space station Tau 14 to search for a grown-up Cale, but Susquehana also sent her drones there to take the boy. Korso and Cale managed to escape, planning on finding the Titan before the Drej.

After the Valkyrie's crew managed to pinpoint the Titan's location on planet Sesharrim, the Drej attacked them and captured Cale and the Valkyrie's pilot Akima and brought them to Susquehana, who had Akima thrown out of the ship and Cale imprisoned so that a copy of the map could be made for the Drej to use. Cale managed to escape the mothership shortly after in a stolen fighter.

With a copy of the map in her hands, Susquehana contacted Korso to announce the end of their deal, refusing to justify her own means to destroy humanity. Korso told her she only had a part of the map, the rest still in Cale's possession, and threatened her to kill Cale if she keeps sending her drones after the Valkyrie.

Final Moments[]

Unbeknownst to Korso, Susquehana had also made a deal with Valkyrie's first mate Preed, promising to ensure his safety if he killed the entire Valkyrie's crew upon finding the Titan in the Ice Rings of Tigrin. She arrived with her mothership while Cale and most of the crew confronted both Korso and Preed for their betrayal, and sent her drones to destroy the ice barrier protecting the Titan so that she could destroy it the same way she destroyed Earth.

However, Cale and his allies had started to make preparations for the Titan to make a new Earth, and planned to use the Drej's bodies as the energy source needed for such a feat. Right after Susquehana orders to fire against the Titan, Cale sets the ship's systems to absorb her and her entire ship, ending the Drej's tyrannical rule on the galaxy for good and avenging the destruction of the original Earth and half its entire population.

Personality[]

Susquehana is the genocidal monarch of the Drej, who suffers from paranoid personality disorder. Her deep paranoia led her to destroy multiple races, including mankind, and even destroying her own drones on a regular basis in order to prevent the chance that someone will ever replace her.

Powers and Abilities[]

The Drej Queens (especially Susquehana herself) are the commanding force behind the Drej, and have complete control over their species. Susquehana is likely the only known Drej Queen because she is the most notable, as she leads her entire race.

Trivia[]

  • Although Susquehana is a female, she is voiced by the male actor Christopher Scarabosio.
  • She is the third female main antagonist in a Don Bluth film after Queen Gnorga and Ludmilla.
  • She and Queen Gnorga are the only two main antagonists of a Don Bluth film to be of a completely fictional species.
  • Like the rest of the Drej, Susquehanna is depicted in 3D, while the other characters in the film are in 2D.
