Biography[]

The episode opens with therapist Blake Chambers bringing Drew, a stranger who he has just prevented from jumping off a cliff, back to his house. Drew is reluctant to open up to Blake, but after an attempt at laughter yoga devolves into sobbing he admits that he thinks he might have killed somebody, though he will not give any details.

Drew then leaves to go to the toilet, with Blake noticing that he has a gun in his waistband, and gets out some sedative pills while he's out of Blake's view. When he returns, he slips the pills into Blake's drink. Blake meanwhile has become concerned that Drew is unstable and slips some sedatives into his drink in turn, but Drew's pills take effect first and Blake is knocked out while Drew remains unaffected.

Blake awakes to find himself chained to the kitchen counter with Drew brandishing the gun at him. Drew explains that he isn't really suicidal and was trying to lure Blake out, having been watching him for some time. Blake unsuccessfully tries to talk his way out by telling Drew that his son Robbie, who is on a night out with friends, will be home soon. After some back and forth, Drew tells Blake why he's here: he is the father of Ellie Dawson, a former patient of Blake's who came to him with depression. Blake got her addicted to anti-depressants before coercing her into sex, then when her mental state worsened as a result of his actions he refused to take responsibility and ended up letting her kill herself. Drew now wants Blake to write a full confession taking responsibility for Ellie's death.

Blake agrees to Drew's terms and Drew releases him to write the confession, keeping the gun trained on him. However, Blake then points out to Drew that now that he can see the gun up close, he can clearly see it's not a real gun. He then stabs Drew in the leg and knocks him down before running off. Drew bandages his leg and tries to limp away, but Blake chases him down, planning to kill him to cover up his role in Ellie's death. He corners Drew and prepares to smash his head in with a fire poker, before deciding to instead take him back to the bridge and throw him off, staging it as a suicide. Drew tries one last time to persuade him to confess, to no avail.

As Blake prepares to drive Drew back to the bridge, Drew tells him he has something of interest in his coat, which he left inside. Blake goes to get it, finding that it's a mobile phone with a number written on it; dialling the number takes him to his son Robbie, who Drew has kidnapped and buried alive. Meanwhile, Drew has begun pouring petrol over himself. A panicked Blake begs him to tell him where Robbie is, but Drew explains that telling him was conditional on his writing out a confession to Ellie's death; he refused, so now Drew is going to kill himself and take Robbie's location to his grave. Drew tells Blake that he let Robbie die before setting himself on fire as the episode ends.
