Drew Stommer is a serial kidnapper, rapist and murderer. He was the main antagonist of the Chicago P.D. episode "If We Were Normal".
He is portrayed by Michael Torpey.
Background[]
Drew took psychology in college and was a major in it. Upon graduating, he took up a job as a real estate agent and was proficient at his job by persuading people into listening to what he was selling. This gave him a good reputation among his colleagues.
Beneath this, he was a rapist who used his position as a realtor to troll for his victims ultimately kidnapping and raping them. He would mostly target troubled women, believing he could salvage them and shape them into a new person. Drew would keep these women in the vacant houses and repeatedly subject them into psychological and sexual torture by calling them a nobody until they forget their identities. He abducted a troubled girl named Jamie and ultimately transformed her into his "wife" Madison. He soon discovered Madison was unable to conceive, so he continued his kidnapping spree in order to make the perfect family with her.
If We Were Normal[]
Drew hired a young prostitute Ruby Baker, knowing she was a homeless drug addicted girl. Drew would take her to one of his vacant houses and keep her in a secluded room in the basement chain to a wall. He proceeded to torture her physically and mentally while telling her that she was nothing and he was going to make her into something else. Baker endured the pain, while carving her name in her arm to remember her identity. Eventually, he ended up getting her pregnant and having previously abducted another girl proceeded to get rid of her.
While driving Ruby into the city, the girl worked up the strength to attack him cutting his arm and running down the street in hysteria. Knowing she'd likely be found by the cops, Drew quickly went back to the house and destroyed any evidence of her captivity with bleach, to cover his tracks.
At a hospital, Ruby gives her story and identifies Drew as her abductor. Intelligence realized with his occupation that he'd have access to the vacant houses to secure victims. Much later, Drew was doing an open house before he is arrested by Det. Alvin Olinsky and officer Kevin Atwater for his crimes, though he promises to have their jobs for this humiliation.
When brought in, he claims he had a sexual arrangement with Ruby and states she was behaving erratically, which led to the cut on his arm. He voiced he is aware of the pregnancy, stating with her occupation that this was likely before the interview is cut. Out of disgust for his words, Sergeant Hank Voight proceeded to slap Drew across the face on his way out. ASA Steve Kot reveals there is no concrete evidence to prove it.
Hank proceeds to visit Drew who is angry with the harassment until Hank handcuffs him. Hank then takes protesting Drew to the Silos, where they meet with Lindsay and Madison. Drew protest his innocence, by telling Madison the cops are trying to break them apart until Alvin arrives with Ruby Baker who nearly attacks Drew for her rape and abduction but is held back. They proceed to ask Madison to help them after revealing what Drew has been up to, as he protests but is silenced by Hank. Eventually, Lindsay tells Madison that her real name is Jamie and that her family misses her, and Drew was manipulating her. She tells her that she is not evil like him and they need her help in saving another girl that was taken, Jennifer Harris. Breaking down, she proceeds to tell them what they need to know, and they go to the house to rescue the other girl. By the time Intelligence arrived, it is too late, and the girl has already suffocated in concrete after being buried alive by Drew.
Drew is then arrested for kidnapping and murder, while placed in the cage, Alvin and Hank visit him and tells Drew of his victim's fate and says Jamie has waived her right to an attorney to give a statement. Hank then asks him on any other victims, stating it'd be the perfect time to tell them. However, he refuses to comply and promises to sue should they hurt him in anyway in the non-wired room. Seeing that he hasn't changed, Hank looks to Alvin who discusses his time on the job and how he would feel better arresting people like him before he removes his gun and places it next to Drew. He remarks on how Drew said there were no cameras while taking out his extra gun and makes a scenario, where Drew reached for the gun and threatened him before he orders him to pick it up. Shocked, Drew states Alvin couldn't do it, but Hank ignores his protests. Alvin aims his gun at Drew's face and appears ready to kill him, but Drew pleads with him constantly. After hearing his begging, Alvin tells him that he smells the fear in Drew, stating the latter is experiencing what he put Ruby and his other victims through by holding them hostage. He sardonically remarks Drew now knows what it feels like to beg for his life, before relenting and taking his leave. Drew breaks down in tears when the cops leave. Afterwards, Jamie decides to make a fresh start and possibly reconnect with her family while Ruby decides to keep her baby, believing something good should come out of her experience.
With the rapes and murder committed by him, Drew was charged for his spree and imprisoned.
