Original Timeline[]
Over a thousand years after the destruction of Krypton, the criminals were released from the zone and Zod’s son Lor-Zod was born eight months after his parents were paroled on a Kryptonian colonized planet Daxam by the United Planets. Zod raised his son to hate the House of El and was taught to be loyal to the doctrine of his family.
After fifteen years of living on Daxam, Zod became unsatisfied at being deprived of the power Kryptonians gain under a yellow sun. Feeling the power was his birthright, he moved his family and followers (which now included the native Daxamites) to a planet with a yellow sun. Dru felt the United Planets feared his strength much like how the Kryptonian High Council did, and attempted another a coup, a galactic coup to unite the galaxy under his rule but were defeated by the newly formed Legion of Superheroes and were banished to the Phantom Zone once again.
Lor was orphaned because he was a minor. Ever since then, Lor-Zod made it his life mission to find a way to free his parents from the Zone and restore honor to the House of Zod.

He informed Superboy that he was suffering from Zone sickness, simply hallucinating which Dru saw as he was talking to himself but assured him how he and the unconscious Phantom Girl were real. He gave his name and had the pair follow him to his camp.
While he was seemingly pleasant, he telepathically told his wife that they would take their time in manipulating Superboy to their side. Dru showed Superboy how his followers were working to survive and offered him a role there, something that was accepted, and the young man kneeled.
Learning Krypton's Destruction[]
Dru and Ursa were surprised by Superboy being an El and he gave his name Kon-El and his origins as a clone of Kal-El, the Superman who was the son of his mortal enemy Jor-El. They learn Superman was renowned as Earth's greatest hero before his "death" at the hands of Superboy. Dru and Ursa are then told that Krypton was destroyed decades ago and Kal-El survived because his parents sent him to Earth after his father's warnings of doom were ignored. The pair also learn of the incredible powers that Kryptonians gain on planets with a yellow sun like Superman did.
Escaping the Zone[]
Dru, Ursa, Superboy, and Faora Hu-UI all exit the Zone, where they found several downed people. Before they could question it, Superboy screamed and collapsed from his injuries that he gained before and after entering the zone. Soon, the Zods are called out to by a young man who calls out to him and Ursa, calling them his parents and saying the galaxy is theirs.

Invading the Earth[]
Dru comes face to face with Superman, who survived the attack on the ship and readies for a fight. Dru told him that he preferred not to fight, stating while Superman is of the House of El, he is a fellow remaining Kryptonian. He requests Superman join his army and kneel, so they could turn into Earth into a paradise of strength and rebuild what remains of their race. However, he was met with refusal from the Man of Steel, so he had Ma'alefa'ak fling the kryptonite that Dru had on him at Superman's chest. As Superman collapsed, Zod taunted him on being his knees after all. When Superboy refused to help Superman, the latter lost consciousness and Lor begged his father to kill the pair because they are House of El and Superboy is out of his mind. Dru refused, stating he had a better idea.
The Zods, Ma'alefa'ak, Superboy, and the unconscious Superman emerge through a boomtube in Metropolis, where the Zod family cause destruction to get attention from the citizens. Lor reminded his father that he told him to kill both the Els and Ursa concurred. Dru decided to do so but the Team and other heroes arrive, he fights Aquaman until Superman is cured and Superboy has his memories restored by Miss Martian.
Superboy addressed Dru by stating though he used him he also saved him and requested he surrendered. Dru refused and told his son he should have respected his judgement and killed Superboy. He then entered into a fight with him while expressing anger at his betrayal. After one last attack, Dru was defeated by Superman and Superboy before getting sent back to the Phantom Zone through a boomtube. Ursa was able to escape and proceeded to head for planet Daxam to raise the unborn Lor to exact vengeance. Meanwhile, the older Lor escaped in time sphere but because of Metron's machinations he was killed.
