Hello... old friend.
~ Dyson to Tron

Dyson is the secondary antagonist of the 2012 Disney sci-fi show TRON: Uprising (which is the sequel to the 1982 film TRON and a prequel to the 2010 film TRON: Legacy). He was originally a security program created by Kevin Flynn to assist Tron with keeping order and peace onto the Grid. However, due to a horrific injury that impaired Dyson's face, Dyson would eventually co-operate with CLU 2 to overthrow Kevin Flynn, kill Tron, and establish complete control across the Grid. Due to his actions, he is the archenemy of Tron.

He was voiced by John Glover, who also played the Riddler, in Batman: The Animated Series,Theodore Maddox in Fear the Walking Dead, Mr. Sivana in Shazam!, Alan Raimy in 52 Pick-Up, Dr. Jason Woodrue in Batman & Robin, and Lionel Luthor in Smallville.

History[]

Backstory[]

Dyson served as a security program, being a trusted member of Tron and his team of enforcers. After the arrival of the ISOs, Tron and his team were forced to keep the peace between the Basics and the ISOs, and were to prevent any conflict from breaking out. However, even Dyson was uneasy about the ISOs, being cautious of them. During a mission, his suspicion would turn into hatred when a random identity disc came out of a crowd of ISOs and derezzed a basic, starting a riot. He attempted to calm everyone down, but amidst the chaos, another disc would hit him in the face, nearly derezzing him. He survived with a horrific injury across the right side of his face, a large gash.

Dyson blamed the ISOs for his injury, despite the fact that it was never established who threw the disc. He expressed his concerns of the ISOs with Flynn, who reassured Dyson that ISOs were not the monsters Dyson thought they were. From this, his anger toward the ISOs and Kevin Flynn would increase. Somewhere down the line, CLU 2 would convince Dyson to participate in a coup against Flynn by fixing his face, doing what Flynn didn't. The coup was executed, and Flynn went into hiding.

Tron was nearly killed and was subsequently imprisoned, where Dyson would torture him. Despite all this, Dyson did have some sympathy for Tron, and expressed an emotion of shock and sadness during his false death.

Scars[]

Dyson arrives in Argon to deal with the Renegade after Tesler's failed attempts to stop him. Tesler is not pleased to see him and pretends to welcome him, but is secretly planning to dispose of him. Later, Tron learn of his arrival and is bent on getting revenge on him for his betrayal and for scarring his face. Tron then sends Beck to go capture him, but Dyson proved too skilled for him. Pavel attempt to dispose of him, but was stopped by Paige. Later, Tron decided to take on Dyson his own; Beck tries to stop him, but Tron subdued him and went to go face him.

As Dyson searches for the Renegade, Tron ambushed him where Dyson believed he was the Renegade and after a fierce battle, Tron unmasked himself in front of him. Terrified, Dyson claimed he saw him die, but Tron tells him that he's going to kill him for his betrayal and for scarring him. Dyson attempted to offer him to join him and claims Clu could fix him, but Tron tells him he would rather be like that forever than serve Clu. Dyson then attacks him, but Tron stops him, raised him up in the air and prepared to derezz him. However, Tron begin to recalled what Cyrus told him after being saved by him.

Tron decided to spared Dyson for now, but the only reason he was letting him live was so he can deliver a message to Clu. After Tron disappeared, Dyson was left terrified and fled back to Tron City to inform Clu of Tron's return. Dyson returned to Tron City and informed Clu about Tron's survival, but Clu asked him who else knew of Tron's survival. Dyson turned to Clu's sentry and decides he can't have him tell anyone about Tron's survival and derezzed him before he tells Clu nobody else knows about Tron's return other than them. Clu decides to keep it that way.

The Stranger[]

Dyson has programs working on a secret project and also keep Tesler and his forces from knowing about it. However, he catches Able spying on him and asked to see his disc until one of his workers appears to reclaim Able. Dyson reminds the foreman program that he is replacable then his workers if he doesn't keep them in line.
