Earl is the main antagonist of the 2000 song "Goodbye Earl" by The Chicks (formerly and more famously known as The Dixie Chicks). He is the abusive Ex husband to Wanda.
In the music video, he was portrayed by Dennis Franz.
Biography[]
Sometime after graduating from high school, Wanda met Earl why trying to find herself a place in the world, sometime they go married. But less than two weeks after they got married, Earl started abusing her, Wanda starting wearing dark glasses, long sleeve blouses, and makeup to hide her injuries. Soon, Wanda hired an attorney to file for divorce against Earl and filed a restraining order. But this only enraged Earl further and he broke through the restraining order to continue beating Wanda, eventually beating her hard enough to put her into intensive care.
Mary-Ann, Wanda's best friend, came to her aid and came up with a plan to get rid of Earl for good. One night, they placed poison in Earl's black-eyed peas, killing him. They then wrapped his body in blue tarp and threw it away within the woods. Seasons passed and nobody was able to find Earl again, and it turned out that nobody missed him. The whole town then joined in celebrating his death. Earl, as a zombie, appears and joins in dancing. At the end of the music video, everyone jumps in the air except for Earl, who falls to his knees.
