~ Ed revealing the truth to Robin.
Ed is a burglar and the main antagonist of the Teen Titans Go episode "Driver's Ed." He also serves as a minor antagonist in the previous episode "Pie Bros" and supporting antagonist in "Caged Tiger."
After the Titans grow annoyed with Robin's lack of a driver's license, Robin decides to search online for a driving instructor. He finds Ed and they agree to meet in front of the local bank. Upon arriving, Robin finds an unlocked car with a note on the window instructing him to start the engine. A few minutes later, Ed exits the bank with a duffel bag full of money. He successfully hides it from Robin by depositing it in the trunk of the car and swapping it out for a clipboard. Ed then moves to the passenger's seat, introduces himself to Robin, and briefly explains the test. Robin then proceeds to drive, only to realize that the police are tailing them. Ed convinces him that the police aren't chasing them, and the test continues. Throughout the drive, Ed is very quick to deduct points from Robin for the slightest of reasons. Once the drive is over, Ed hands Robin his test - which is marked with a giant "F" in red pen, indicating that he failed the test. Ed then arranges another test.
Despite Robin's efforts, he continues to fail every subsequent test. The tests begin to occur at increasingly bizarre locations, including in front of a casino, by a money factory, and at the end of a rainbow. Robin continues to meet Ed at the mandated locations, despite failing every attempt. Meanwhile, the rest of the Titans are skeptical about Robin's test scores. The Titans decide to go out to get lunch at a nearby cafe when they spot Robin waiting in the car outside a jewelry store. Realizing that Robin is being used as a getaway driver, they try to warn him - only for him to drive off. The Titans then get in Cyborg's T-car and follow him, causing a wild chase to ensue. Ed immediately notices that something is different about Robin this time - he is driving far more recklessly and refuses to listen to Ed. Robin manages to lose the rest of the Titans and makes it to a nearby park. Ed finally gives Robin a passing grade, and tells him that he was using him the whole time. Robin claims that he knew from the beginning, which is why he neglects to warn Ed about the demon Raven summoned below him. Suddenly, the demon pops out and drags Ed into an alternate dimension.
Some time later, Ed escapes the demon's grasp and makes it back to the real world. He is then captured by the Titans and imprisoned. Beast Boy, who is trying to make a few extra bucks, becomes Ed's lawyer. Sadly, Beast Boy doesn't know what he is doing and prosecutes Ed, resulting in his arrest.
In "Caged Tiger", Ed escapes prison with the same police officer shooting at him and is seen robbing the bank in the background without Raven or Starfire noticing.
Personality[]
Ed is shown to be manipulative, as he tricks Robin into being his getaway driver under the false pretense that he is a driving instructor. He has no qualms about deceiving Robin, and uses him to either escape crime scenes or, on one notable occasion, shop for groceries.
Ed is also rather stoic. He doesn't show much emotion and typically speaks in a flat tone. When Robin attempts to play music and dance in the car, Ed is quick to shut off the music and give Robin a deduction for his behavior. Overall, Ed doesn't seem to be a very cheerful person. When Robin attempts to engage him in small talk to be polite, Ed often shuts him down or just entirely ignores him. This further proves that Ed only sees Robin as a tool.
Ed only gives Robin a passing grade on his driving test after Robin's rather insane getaway from the jewelry store. He makes it clear that he is only giving Robin a passing grade because his driving was so reckless. Ed then remarks that he "never wants him as a getaway driver ever again."
Appearance[]
Ed is a man with sandy blond hair and black glasses. He wears an olive green dress shirt with a brown turtleneck and grey-green pants. When pulling heists, he can be seen carrying a blue duffle bag filled with money or valuables. After stuffing the duffel in the back of his car, he then substitutes it for a blue clipboard and red pen.
