Eddie Kane is an antagonist in the tv show Columbo.
He is played by John Davis Chandler.
Biography[]
Eddie Kane was a Vietnam War veteran who later turned into a skilled bomb maker and hitman. He had a deep passion for explosives and considered himself both a craftsman and a teacher, convinced that knowledge about such dangerous devices needed to be shared responsibly. Driven by this belief, he wrote a book entitled How To Blow Up Anything In 10 Easy Steps, aiming to help young enthusiasts avoid fatal mistakes when experimenting with explosives. His obsession with his work and his lack of moral restraint eventually led him into darker territory. When publisher Riley Greenleaf approached him with an elaborate plan, Eddie agreed to participate. The scheme involved murdering writer Alan Mallory and framing Greenleaf himself, in return for Greenleaf’s promise to publish his book. Eddie carried out the killing with precision and waited for his reward, believing that his work and his loyalty would finally be recognized. A few days later, Greenleaf visited Eddie at his home to celebrate their success. They shared champagne, and while Greenleaf casually inquired about the details of the murder and the potential legal trouble of the book, Eddie suddenly collapsed. The champagne had been poisoned, part of Greenleaf’s own plan to eliminate Eddie once the job was done and leave him as the sole scapegoat for the entire revenge plot. Eddie’s life ended at the hands of the very man he had trusted, betrayed by a partner even more ruthless than himself. He was portrayed by John Davis Chandler.
