Biography

Trivia

  • In "Muse", hen Morse refers to Eve and other prostitutes working for Eddie Nero as "belles de jour", he is making a reference to Luis Bunuel's classic film Belle de jour (1967), which had been first seen in the UK about four months before the time-period of this story. "Belle De Jour" concerns a woman who works as a prostitute, but only in the daytime.
  • In "Cartouche", when Thursday asked Nero about his dealings with the murdered organist Leslie Garnier, Nero replies, "I'm more of an Errol Garner man, myself", a punning reference to the great American jazz pianist and composer who, in the 1950s and 1960s, enjoyed huge popularity with jazz aficionados in the UK, which he frequently visited. Errol Garner died of emphysema in 1977.
