“ | Ranpo-kun... you don't understand. Working with others, and living in society...To me, it is nothing but an agony. When I lost our battle of brains that day... my spirit lost all reason to be involved with other people. It wandered in dark rooms for a very long time. But now I know... it's all right to live after all. Your hands are full of glory and praise, Ranpo-kun. If I could have that... Yes! I must take them from you! Even if it means burning you up! | „ |

When he is with Karl, he coos over him and most of the time keeps Karl around his neck, making Karl hang off. After the Guild's defeat, Poe becomes a full time novelist writer and actually becomes somewhat friends with Ranpo, often helping him with cases or for example, the time he helped Ranpo in retrieving all of the Armed Detective Agency members after they were framed as the Decay of the Angels by Nikolai Gogol.

When the police go to take Mushitaro and the driver, the driver reveals his badge of carrying a pistol and other evidence that makes them not suitable for arrest, to which the 2 criminals drive away. After Mushitaro is taken away, Poe and Ranpo talk and a voice comes from the empty polie car next to them, it being the voice of Mushitaro.
