Char Aznable has declared Edriss 562 is to be renamed to Visser One for the following reason(s): With the exception of the last three or so books in the Animorphs series, when she is killed and usurped by Visser Three, this character is known as "Visser One". She is only called "Edriss" in the book "Visser". Please discuss it on the talk page for this article. "I told you I am not Casval, I am Char Aznable."✓ |
Edriss 562, better known as Visser One, is the military leader of the Yeerk Empire and a major antagonist in the Animorphs book series. She controls the military forces of the entire Yeerk Empire and is the mastermind behind the Yeerk stealth invasion of Earth. Her host body for much of the series was the mother of Marco, Eva.
Biography[]
Past[]
Upon receiving reports of a potential Class Five species on the Taxxon homeworld when the presence of two humans, Loren and Hedrick Chapman, was discovered, Edriss defied orders from her superiors and traveled to Earth to conduct further research on them, taking with her a subordinate Essam 293. While there Edriss and Essam occupied human hosts and even fathered children with them. Edriss also took up a secondary host in Lore David Altman and used him to found an organization called The Sharing, which was meant to serve as a front for the Yeerk invasion. However, Essam began to lose faith in the Yeerk invasion and chose to die instead of progressing on with it.
Leaving her human children to be up for adoption, Edriss murdered her host as well to prevent her from going back for their children. Edriss then killed Altman as well so his death would buy the Sharing more publicity. She then possessed the body of Eva, Marco's mother, and after faking her death used her to return to the Yeerks. For her discovery of the Class Five species and the preparations she had made for a stealth invasion, Edriss was promoted by the Council of Thirteen as Visser One, military leader of the entire Yeerk Empire.
Earth Invasion[]
The Predator[]
After Visser Three captured the Animorphs, Visser One had her elite Hork-Bajir guards set them free in order to sabotage her political rival. During this incident, Marco discovered that his mother Eva was alive and was being used by Visser One as a host body.
The Escape[]
In preparation for the Yeerk invasion of the Leeran homeworld, Visser One set up a facility where the Yeerks would infest the bodies of hammerhead sharks. However, her project was foiled by the Animorphs with help from Visser Three.
VISSER[]
For her past string of failures, Visser One was put on trial by the Council of Thirteen for incompetence and sympathy with a subject species. During the trial, Visser One narrates her long history on how she set up the stealth invasion of Earth. At the end of the trial, both Visser One and Three are given chances to redeem themselves by bringing a planet under Yeerk control. Visser Three is left in control of Earth while Visser One is tasked with leading the invasion of the Anati homeworld.
The Revelation[]
After the disastrous failure of the Anati invasion, Edriss lost her position as Visser One and Visser Three was appointed it instead. She was brought to Earth to be questioned and executed for her failures, but the Animorphs broke in to rescue her and her human host, Eva. Edriss left Eva's body in order to escape but was stomped on and killed by Marco.
