Even though what you did was wrong, you’re still a good kid.
~ Edward Alderson
Edward: You’re right, I made some mistakes. I wish I could’ve been a better father to you. All I’m asking is that you forgive me. Do you think you will be able to do that?

Elliot: No!
Edward: yeah.. maybe we should leave.

~ Edward Alderson’s last conformation with his son Elliot and last words before his death

History[]

One day when Edward was working at E-Corp, an event happened that would change lots of lives; the Washington Township Toxic Waste Scandal. While the E-Corp employees were working, toxic waste started leaking out of the nearby Washington Township. This lead to multiple employees, including Edward himself, being infected with different types of diseases. Edward was contracted with leukemia. Edward told Elliot about the disease but to keep silent about it. However, Elliot eventually told his mother, Magda, about it. Elliot remembers this as leading to Edward suffering a violent breakdown and pushing Elliot out of a second-story window, only to regret it and take him to the hospital.

As it turns out though, this was just a way of covering the true, repressed memories of what really happened that day. The person suffering the violent breakdown was actually Elliot himself, who had locked his younger sister Darlene in the closet while destroying things in his bedroom with a baseball bat, and when Edward came to see what was going on, Elliot threatened to jump out of the second-story window, resulting in a broken arm. Later on during Elliot's childhood, Edward tries to have Elliot forgive him for unknown reasons, inviting him to go and watch a movie, However, Elliot refuses to forgive him and wants to go back home. Suddenly, Edward collapses due to the toxic waste scandal. Instead of helping him though, Elliot took only his father's coat and leaves him to die by coldly walks away from the scene to an empty theatre where presumably beginning manifesting his disillusions.

In December of 2015, the crime lord Fernando Vera had kidnapped Elliot as part of his scheme to have Elliot become the very own partner of his crime empire which would make him a very rich man. Vera's plan was to use Elliot's former therapist Krista Gordon to break Elliot psychologically, which would allow Vera to control him. Vera decides to hold a psychological meeting between Krista and Elliot. They get on the topic of how Elliot's personality Mr. Robot came to be, as well as his childhood. After a while, Krista came to a conclusion; Edward molested Elliot as a child and the parts of the story Elliot told were true, as he knew to protect his sister and attempt to fend off his father with Baseball bat. This was Mr. Robot's true purpose was always to be a better version of Elliot's father and preventing any mental distributions to happen. Becoming a version of Edward who isn't abusive, but instead fights for a better world, together with Elliot.
