Edward Whimple is the main antagonist of the New Haven arc in Criminal Case: Mysteries of the Past.

Appearance[]

Edward is a fifty-four year-old former evidence clerk of the Concordian Police Department. He has grey hair and a mustache, with a scar on his face. He wears a blue vest with a police badge over a white shirt and a black tie.

Biography[]

Edward became a suspect when the victim's body was found in the evidence room. He was shocked when he heard about what happened, he said that the fire damaged everything but the thought of someone dying made him sad. Edward said that he only knew the victim by the stories he heard about the victim and what hero he was, he also knew him since the fire station was just down the street. He was talked to again when a photo of him and the victim gambling together was found on a crime scene. He said that the victim held dice games when he wasn't working and after Edward made a lot of money he kept on playing with the victim. He then said he covered it up because the victim was corrupt and was cheating at the game and didn't want to ruin his reputation. Edward was found innocent in the end.

Edward because a suspect again when the murder weapon turns out to be the revolver that killed Otis Kid. He said that he took the revolver out of the evidence storage but that he was ordered to and he wasn't gonna tell anyone not even the police who ordered so. He was spoken to again when he had written a letter to the victim about money. Even then he still refused to tell anyone who made him took the revolver, further more Edward explain that the victim wanted money for a immigrant Project and Edward thought it was just a normal-to-normal everyday loan. But then the victim told Edward that it was a donation and he ain't getting the money back and this, of course, made Edward angry and desperate. He was then found guilty for the murder of Father Donovan and the Slavery of Irish immigrants. He sold Irish Immigrants to very wealthy and powerful people, like senators, Mayors, commissioners and just plain rich guys. The victim found out about this and said he was gonna tell the police, Edward then shot him to keep him silence and he then laid the body on the train tracks so that it would look like a train accident. Edward also said he paid someone to bully a police officer into setting fire to the evidence room. When Judge Takakura heard about this, he sentences Whimple to life in prison without any chance of parole.

In the additional investigation Madeline and the player went to confront Edward in his cell about the money he got from selling the immigrants. Edward said that he sold the immigrations to rich people all around New Haven and couldn't remember all their names. He also said that he ain't gonna tell the player about the money.

Trivia[]

  • Edward is one of the characters to appear as a suspect in two cases.
  • Due to events canon to the game, Edward is one of the killers in Criminal Case who were interrogated in the Additional Investigation for plausible reasons.
