~ Luclezeus when revealing his and the Eight Great Apostles' true nature. |
The Eight Great Apostles were the main antagonist group of the Japanese series, Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World.
They acted as the supporting character faction until when the truth of the 100 years incident was revealed by the Nebulis Sovereignty's third princess, Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX in the request of Emperor Yunmelngen, they revealed themselves to be the main antagonist faction (alongside with the overall main antagonistic character, Elletear Lou Nebulis IX) until they were killed by Elletear for betraying her.
Overview[]
They are the former senators of the Heavenly Empire and the former supreme leaders of the imperial army (before the army turning against them when the truth was revealed).
100 years ago, they were formerly known as the Eight Elders. However, they secretly committed a crime against Hakenweltz (the previous Emperor and Yunmelngen's father), the future Emperor Yunmelngen (when he was a crown prince) and the miners who discovered the Astral Energy causing destruction but didn't manage to kill them. They covered up the truth and have framed the Astral Mages for the explosion with false reports into persecuting them by manipulating the Heavenly Empire with lies. They eventually left their original bodies into machines containing with Astral Spirits just to live long in order to continue their schemes of falsely accusation upon the Astral Mages (the so-called "witches" or "sorcerers").
However, after Kervina Sofita Hermos' death, One of them Luclezeus was sent to kill Iska, the 907th unit and Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX (the third princess of the Nebulis Sovereignty) of stopping them from unveiling the truth (which the Apostles covered it up) due to Sisbell's astral power, but only for him to die at the 907th unit's hands by destroying the cage contain an Astral Spirit, resulting of Luclezeus' death. In the moment of his death, Luclezeus declared that without the Apostles, nobody will be able to stop every last of the 'witches", which is nothing more but a bunch of delusional excuses.
After Luclezeus' demise, the Eight Great Apostles' attempt of the persecution on the Astral Mages was eventually brought into a failure and their plans of obtaining the Astral Energy was jeopardized when the third princess, Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX unveiled the truth of the 100 years incident and the Apostles' true nature in publicity within the Heavenly Empire from the request of Emperor Yunmelngen. After Sisbell revealed the truth, these revelations has cause the entire imperial army (including the Saint Disciples) to turn against the Apostles for their deceits against the previous Emperor. They later betrayed Elletear and ordered her assassination, which failed and she survived.
During the chaos in the Heavenly Empire after Sisbell revealed their true natures, the 7 remaining apostles were killed by Elletear Lou Nebulis IX for betraying her and attempted to assassinate her. After Elletear killed the remaining Eight Great Apostles, the Apostles' deaths has also freed the captive Astral Spirits (that were trapped in cages for a long time).
Personality[]
In the start of the series, The Eight Great Apostles acted as benevolent officials when they freed Iska (the main protagonist) to give a chance of pardon his actions for freeing the "witch" (Sisbell), if he capture the "Ice Calamity Witch" in exchange for his freedom.
However, in their true nature behind their "benevolent" masks, they are corrupted, selfish, dishonest and cruel manipulators who only cares are themselves. While Emperor Yunmelngen holds interests of Astral Mages, they holds a great hatred towards Astral Mages when they regarded them as "witches" or "sorcerers" when they attempted to eliminate them all from the planet to obtain the Astral Energy for themselves. They don't care about the humanity as they are willingly to wipe them out if they found out the truth of their actions from 100 years war event that they've covered up which eventually came true when Yunmelngen requested Sisbell of revealing the truth in the Empire's capital much of the Apostles' fears. Despite of their hatred towards Astral Mages, they shown interested of Elletear (the former eldest princess of the royal family) and willingly to help her to destroy both the Heavenly Empire and Nebulis Sovereignty by igniting an all-out war by killing the current queen, Millavair Lou Nebulis VIII (Elletear's estranged mother) but failed due to the queen to be far powerful even though sending all of the Saint Disciples to capture her. They also shown interest of Kervina Sofita Hermos who is the traitorous scientist of the Heavenly Empire who conducted illegal human experimentation to turn people into Astral Mages that are monstrous differently from normal Astral Mage when they've secretly freed her to continue her work in their nefarious plans. They viewed their Imperial soldiers and the Saint Disciples as pawns when they didn't care about them as well willing to sacrifice them in their attempt of eradicating the Astral Mages.
The Eight Great Apostles are also cowardice and paranoia when they are afraid of anyone who learns the truth of the 100 years war. They are more than willing to kill anyone who are closer of learning the truth when one of them (Luclezeus) was sent in attempt to Iska, the 907th unit and Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX just to prevent them from revealing the truth only for Luclezeus to fail and got killed by the 907th unit instead as well Sisbell revealed the truth of the Eight Great Apostles' true heinous nature, much of the Apostles' fears.
For their concerns of Iska and the Unit 907 and the Emperor, they shown their displeased that they would eventually interfere their plans and decided to hunt Iska and his team to kill them after he foiled their attempt to capture Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX and destroyed the Witch Hunter Object. They still considered Iska as a traitor and a pawn when they knew he simply refused to capture the so-called "Ice Calamity Witch" (Aliceliese) as they attempt kill him for interfering their plan of capturing Sisbell. They also have no qualms on betraying Emperor Yunmelngen and those who were the Apostles' pawn after they found out the truth behind the 100 years war event through Sisbell's astral powers which caused the Heavenly Empire on turning against the Apostles until it was succeeded (indirectly), due to their deaths at the hands of Elletear Lou Nebulis IX (the Astral Mage who they'd betrayed).
They've shown to be traitorous when they betrayed and attempted to disposed Elletear which failed.
They also obsessed of power and immortality to their desires for Astral Energy and obtain it for themselves which are the main reason of their attempts to wipe out all Astral Mages selfishly. Ironically, it was their own actions to lead themselves to their demise when they were killed by Elletear for betraying her and their selfish desires for the Astral Energy was ruined by the former eldest princess of the Nebulis Sovereignty.
