~ Eiji Mitamura's catchphrase |
Eiji Mitamura, also known as Ei-Chan by Kasuga, is the secondary antagonist of the 2024 action-adventure RPG video game Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Eiji was once a member of Bleach Japan, who joined out of revenge against the ones responsible for framing him and ruining his journalistic career. Afterwards, following the death of their leader, Ryo Aoki, he teams up with Masataka Ebina so he could get his revenge on the yakuza for ruining his life, influencing the media to ruin the majority of the former yakuza's honest lives, including Ichiban Kasuga. He's also the arch-nemesis of Chitose Fujinomiya, for having blackmailed her into slandering the former yakuza members with her VTuber channel.
In Japanese, he's voiced by Ryo Narita and in English, is voiced by Aleks Le.
Personality[]
When first appearing, Eiji was seen to be a nice young gentleman, who was very friendly and formal with Kasuga upon first meeting him. After receiving aid from Kasuga to get him on his wheelchair, he quickly helps Kasuga from the police, after being framed by Tomzizawa and being nearly arrested as a result. He eventually became a major ally to Ichiban and his friends, wanting to help them find Akane and the girl she was with, simply so he could repay Kasuga's kindness towards him.
However, in the middle of the story, after Akane and Lani were rescued, Eiji's true nature was revealed as Chitose revealed that not only could he walk, but he was an agent working for Ebina. Instead, he was an cruel, arrogant, and somewhat sadistic man with a burning hatred towards the yakuza, and was merely using Kasuga, knowing full well that he would bond with him, due to him being "wheel-bound" as it would remind him of Masato Arakawa.
Eiji's hatred of the yakuza was so extreme, he was willing to ruin many of their lives without any hesitation, as seen when he blackmails Chitose on using her V-Tuber channel to spread fake news about former yakuza individuals, including Kasuga, which tarnish their reputation and losing their jobs in the process. He was even willing to work with Bryce to get Lani deliver to him, even having no qualms on threatening her, as he had a goon put a gun on her head or tossing her off while she was bounded on a wheelchair to scare Ichiban and his friends with a fake bomb (which is actually tear gas). Like most members of Bleach Japan, Eiji refuses to believe that any yakuza isn't good people and merely using their kindness to hide their true nature, which is best seen with Kasuga, as he can't understand why Kasuga still continue to offer him kindness and care despite everything he's done.
Eventually in the finale, after Chitose exposed him and his allies' plan, as well as the V-Tuber channel spreading false information, which resulted in Eiji getting hounded by a lot of angry people, Eiji grew depressed and angry on how his plans failed. It only took Kasuga's kindness towards him, despite his actions, to finally realize how much pain and suffering he caused wasn't worth anything and wishes to seek atonement for his crimes. After being escorted and protected by Kasuga to the police station, the two part ways on friendly terms, showing that Eiji is beginning to let go of his vengeful grudge towards the yakuza.
