Biography[]
400 years ago, El Capitan was a sea-captain from Spain, and he and his crew acquired a treasure from the People of the Gold Sun. The ship was lost though a model of it (which contained clues to its whereabouts) somehow wound up in Scrooge's collection.
He has spent centuries seeking the map to his lost gold, having survived through sheer willpower and his all-consuming greed for gold. He eventually learned of the map's location but couldn't get it himself. So he broke the Beagle Boys out of jail and promised them some of the treasure if they stole the map. ("Dont Give Up the Ship')
The Beagle Boys managed to steal the map, but Huey, Dewey and Louie were able to bring it back to Scrooge, after which the Beagle Boys wound up back in jail. El Capitan then formed a partnership with Flintheart Glomgold, who bought a candy factory (where a piece of chocolate had an imprint of the map in it) from Scrooge. They followed Scrooge and Huey, Dewey and Louie until at last they all found the treasure ship but the two partners in crime forced Scrooge and the boys at cannon-point into a lifeboat.
Things went south when Glomgold, as an insult, tossed Scrooge one gold coin which infuriated El Capitan due to his greed, causing the old captain to turn his cannon on his partner. They fought until the cannon went off and it sunk the ship. Glomgold was picked up by Scrooge and the triplets, while El Capitan was presumed to have drowned. But little did they all know, he survived by grabbing onto a floating piece of the wreckage, and vowed revenge.Wronguay in Ronguay
With the one gold sun coin Scrooge finds out that another one like it is in the Andes; in the Andes he meets antagonist - Joaquin Slowly, High Priest of the Golden Sun. His people worship him because he has a Sun Coin. The natives then start doing the same thing to Scrooge, since he is also in possession a Sun Coin, much to Joaquin's annoyance. Under demands by Scrooge, Joaquin heads over his background; about how his ancestor Marcheen Slowly and Juan Tanamera - his loyal companion - stole a boatload of treasure from the Valley of the Golden Suns. But the ship was then stolen by the captain, who left them with one coin. The pair made a map to said valley and tore it in half. Marcheen happened upon these "Gold Sun!" natives, while Juan wound up losing the other half of the map in Antarctica. (Joaquin is a descendent of Marcheen Slowly ) Scrooge trades his coin for half of the map; Joaquin tells his "Children of the Sun" that he [Joaquin] is the only High Priest, and that Scrooge is an impostor. A chase ensues, with the natives flying real condors as they pursue the feathered trio in their 24-karat one. Eventually, our heroes escape, and the natives crash into Joaquin, who ends up dropping his coins. As a result, the coins fall off the edge of a tall cliff. He commands the natives to go down and retrieve them, but they refuse to obey his orders now that he has lost the coins.Three Ducks of the Condor
Scrooge travels to Antarctica with the help of Webby then reveals that she reproduced the map using her crayons. Pengiun Skittles returns to her people via colorful parachute, with Webby's crayons and Mrs. Beakley's scarf as parting gifts.Cold Duck
El Capitan managed to find his way to the Valley of the Golden Suns at around the same time Scrooge and his group arrived there themselves. Following them into the Valley, El Capitan eventually corners them right after Scrooge makes the mistake of setting off the curse of the valley. Scrooge and El Capitan, both under the effects of gold fever, began fighting for all the gold in the valley, but Scrooge eventually snaps out of his fever when the temple begins to collapse and manages to escape with his family. They take El Capitan with them, despite that he wants to be left with "all the pretty gold". Everyone manages to get out of the valley before it's destroyed, but soon after, El Capitan breaks loose and runs back to the valley. However, when he comes to the spot where the Valley would be, he finds that it it is now all buried under a mountain of dirt and rock. Frustrated yet undaunted, El Capitan starts trying to dig up the gold, with Scrooge and his loved ones leaving him behind; Scrooge estimates that it take another 400 years for El Capitan to dig up the buried gold! Two Much of a Gold Thing
