Elam is a supporting antagonist in Chris Heimerdinger's 2014 novel Drums of Desolation. He is one of the sons of Akish and Mizerath and the brother of Hathrom.

History[]

Elam was born to the Jaredite king Akish and his second wife, Mizerath. He and his brother Hathrom were eventually shunned by their father, and they turned against him.

Years later, the armies of Hathrom and Elam have allied with Akish and his armies to attack and overthrow the Jaredites led by King Omer. The rogue Jaredite armies lay siege to the Jaredites' settlement, hoping to annihilate King Omer's people so that Nimrah can take the throne of the Jaredites.

Elam is first seen alongside Hathrom when they rendezvous with Akish in the caves. Akish asks them where Nimrah is, to which Elam says that he found his wounded sister Hamira in the cave. Akish decides that they will wait for Nimrah, and informs his troops that if he dies, Nimrah will be their king, rather than Hathrom or Elam.

Akish's men capture Joshua Plimpton and bring him to the beach to hang by a noose. Joshua is rescued when Marcos Alberto Sanchez, along with the warriors of King Omer, come and attack the rogue Jaredites. Elam and Akish manage to escape the battle; however, shortly thereafter, Akish murders Elam in cold spite.
